Chapter 7

The large open field was covered in soft shimmering snow. The Cullen's and their witnesses stood, watching for the Volturi as they awaited their presence. Anna stood alone amongst the group, her senses on high alert as she waited for any sign of the Volturi; she'd never met the Volturi and was curious as to what they were like. Anna remained lost in thought for a while as she looked down at her feet, clad in a pair of lace up black heels; she stood there for quite some time, biting her lip as she began to feel slightly nervous. What if the Volturi found out about her gift and wished to take her with them? She knew telekinesis was a gift the Volturi would certainly be interested in after hearing what Carlisle and the rest of the vampires there had to say. The sound of numerous feet snapped Anna out of her daze as her gaze shot up to look at the trees on the opposite end of the field; they were coming, she could see the black figures that were amongst the trees, advancing towards them. There was a deadly silence that hung in the air as the group of highly powerful vampires approached; they came out of the trees in a neat formation, walking in sync with one another. Anna's attention was once again grabbed as she heard howling coming from behind her, and she turned to see the many wolves come forward. The wolves stood high and mighty amongst the many witnesses; Anna couldn't help but smile as she saw Jacob standing protectively next to Renesmee. Anna let her golden eyes take a quick glance over the vampires opposite her, not taking in features but numbers, noticing that their numbers were far larger. Edward too glanced over the group ahead, listening in on their thoughts and noticed Aro looking for Alice, although that wasn't the only thing on his mind. Aro couldn't help but wonder who the young blonde vampire was, she stood alone near the back and Aro knew that he'd never seen her before. Anna sensed someone's eyes on her and shifted her gaze to see one of the Volturi leaders staring at her with a look of curiosity and wonder in his eyes. Feeling slightly uncomfortable Anna quickly looked back down towards her feet.

"Aro, let's discuss things as we used too; in a civilized manner" Carlisle's voice spoke softly, although everyone could hear him. Aro's attention quickly turned away from Anna and towards Carlisle.

"Fair words Carlisle, although a tad missed placed considering the battalion you've assembled against us" Aro responded, his voice calm but strong.

"That was never my intent" Carlisle replied softly "there have been no laws broken here"

"We see the child, do not treat us as fools" one of the other leaders spoke up, his blonde hair framing his face and his eyes a vicious blood red.

"She is not immortal" Carlisle spoke loudly "these witnesses can attest to that, or you can look; see the flush of human blood in her cheeks" he continued, gesturing to the young girl behind him, her brown curls falling around her and her cheeks a light rosy pink.

"Artifice!" the blonde leader –Caius bellowed, his voice echoing and bouncing off the nearby trees.

"I will receive every facet of the truth" Aro spoke up, silencing his brother "but from someone closer to the matter, Edward" Edward looked hesitant for a moment before walking towards the dark haired vampire who now had his arm outstretched in front of him. Once Edward had reached him he placed his hand in Aro's allowing him to read his thoughts. The older vampire's eyes widened at what he saw before asking to meet the child. Renesmee looked nervous at first, looking up at her mother before glancing back to see Anna give her a reassuring smile.

After a few moments Renesmee, along with her mother, Jacob and Emmett had reached the Volturi. Renesmee walked gracefully towards Aro, showing no fear in her eyes.

"Hello Aro" she greeted quietly before lifting her small hand to his cheek, allowing him to see her thoughts and memories.

"Magnifico" Aro whispered quietly as he witnessed the child in front of him' memories, absolute wonder and amazement in his eyes "half mortal, half immortal; conceived and carried by this newborn while she was still human" he continued to announce as he gestured to Bella standing behind him.

"Impossible" Caius spoke in utter disbelief.

"Do you think they fooled me brother?" Aro snapped back at the blonde vampire as the Cullen's returned to their original positions.

"Bring the informer forward" Caius commanded to the guardsmen beside him. A vampire with blonde curly hair and gold eyes stepped forward, looking at Caius in fear "is this the child you saw?"

"I'm not sure" the woman –Irina spoke hesitantly, looking downwards at her feet "this one's bigger, she's changed –grown"

"So your allegations were false" Caius spoke, in an almost taunting voice.

"Yes, the Cullen's are innocent; I take full responsibility for my mistake" at those words Anna, who had been looking down at her feet nearly the entire conversation' head snapped up, knowing no good could come out of what she said. Within a matter of moments Irina's body had been torn to pieces and set alight. Anna looked over at the Denali sisters in horror as the two blondes ran forward towards the Volturi. The one sister –Tanya was quickly grabbed a hold of but Kate knocked Garett down, shocking him with her gift before running off. Anna quickly ran from her place in the back of the group, jumping up to land in front of Kate, sending the other blonde back with a simple thought. The Volturi looked on, amazed as Kate flew through the air landing behind the wolves without the young girl even touching her. Alec and Jane looked intensely towards Tanya in case she broke free only just noticing Kate fly back. Demetri froze where he stood, recognizing the young blonde who had intervened immediately.

"Anna" he whispered softly, knowing she'd hear him. The rest of the guard's heads quickly snapped towards Demetri along with the leaders. Anna, upon hearing her name whipped herself around quickly to catch the eyes of Demetri.

"Demetri" she replied just as softly sending him a small smile. Both Alec and Jane's heads shot towards the voice recognizing it easily; after all these years she still sounded exactly the same, her voice soft and sweet. The twins froze at the sight of her, her long blonde hair still fell in perfect ringlets like it did once long ago, her skin was now a pale white and her eyes a glistening gold. Hearing the sharp movement Anna's head quickly turned to the source of the noise, only to freeze where she stood. She allowed a small gasp to emit from her mouth as her eyes connected to a pair of soft red ones and then to another pair of eyes, although this person's eyes were a piercing red. Anna couldn't believe what she was seeing, all these years they were alive and she'd never known. A wave of different emotions washed over her as she looked down at her feet, her gaze only coming up once more at the sound of a very familiar voice.

"Anna?"
