"Come on, daddy! We have to solve the murder!" Your six year old daughter Emily, shouted as ran through the house with her plastic magnifying glass Sherlock had given her for Christmas a few months ago. She wanted to be a detective like her daddy and she was already getting a head start by using the words "murder" and "idiot".

You smiled as you watched your daughter run through the kitchen and into the living room, where you were reading the newspaper. Sherlock came out of the bedroom, yawning and holding the bedsheets over himself. You laughed and shook your head.

"Daddy, the murder! The murder!" Emily said as she jumped in excitement. Sherlock plopped himself next to you on the couch and said hoarsely, "Yes, alright, love. I'll just be a moment." With that, he rested his head on your shoulder and closed his eyes.

You pressed a kiss to his head, then watched as Emily searched the floor for clues. "She's not going to give up, Mr. Holmes," you said. He hummed, then turned his body towards you. He curled himself up to your side and nuzzled his face into your neck.

"I'm still exhausted from my last case, Mrs. Holmes," he mumbled. "I love our daughter dearly, but for God's sakes, she's relentless." You just chuckled, then said, "Yeah, I wonder which one of us she gets that from." Sherlock pinched your side and muttered, "Cheeky."

After a few moments, he took a deep breath and got up. "Can I look at your cases again, daddy?" Emily asked. Sherlock smiled and said, "Yes, just give me a moment to get dressed." He went back into the bedroom and got dressed in his purple shirt and black slacks.

When he came back out, Emily was anxiously waiting for him by his computer. He smirked, then sat down at the desk before lifting her up on his lap. He opened up one of the more mild cases he's been working on and printed it out.

He got it organized and put it into a folder for her. "What's this one?" Emily asked. Sherlock laid out the papers on his desk. He pointed to a picture of a man and said, "Walter Greene. He was the CEO of one of the biggest weapon manufactories in London. He was found at his desk, shot by the gun he created."

"Sherlock," you sternly called. He looked up at you and seemed confused. "She doesn't need to know this. Not at this age, at least." Emily spoke up, saying, "But I need to know to help daddy and Uncle John!" You sighed and looked back to Sherlock.

He smirked and said, "I won't show her the crime scene photos." You looked back and forth between the two, then finally huffed out, "Fine." Emily cheered, then Sherlock went back to explaining the murder to his six-year-old.

"What if it was the bad man who hurt you, daddy?" She asked. Yours and Sherlock's eyes met. She was talking about Moriarty. He shot Sherlock a couple years ago in front of you and Emily. Sherlock thought he had killed Moriarty, so when he came home expecting to be greeted by his wife and daughter, he was very surprised to see Moriarty holding you both at gunpoint.

Sherlock tried to reason with him, nearly begging on his knees, but then ended up charging at him when there was nothing more to do. They fought, while you and Emily huddled together in a corner. As soon as Moriarty got the chance, he shot Sherlock in the chest.

He almost didn't survive. He said that he saw you and Emily in his mind palace and fought as hard as he could to stay alive. He was in the hospital for a week, even though he wanted to get up and leave the moment he woke up.

Sherlock kissed Emily's head and told her, "No. You're Uncle has him in custody. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if Mycroft let him loose for information, then he could have done this, yes." You saw the fear in Emma's eyes and immediately put a stop to this.

"Sherlock, that's enough. Now why don't you do something normal and take her to get lunch or ice cream or something." Sherlock thought for a moment, then told you, "Alright. Grab your coat, Em." Emily hopped off his lap and ran to get her coat.

As Sherlock was just wrapping around his scarf, she came out with her coat. "Say bye to mummy," he told her. Emily waved goodbye to you, then followed her daddy out the door. As they were walking down the street, Sherlock whistled and got a taxi to stop.

He got himself and Emily inside, then picked up his phone and called Lestrad. "Are you still at the crime scene?" He asked. "I'm on my way there." He hung up without giving Lestrad a chance to answer, then looked over to Emily.

You would think Sherlock just revealed they were going to Disneyland because the excitement in her eyes could not be missed. "We're going to a crime scene?" She excitedly asked. Sherlock just smirked, then said, "Don't tell mummy."
