"Please pass me the-woah!" Lois said loudly as Felicity came into eyesight. She blushed and laughed at her friend's big eyes.
"Like it?" She said shyly.
"Like it? I love it! But there are only two options you could've gotten that dress. One, is that you actually stole from the bank and managed to buy a Ellie Saab, or two, you worked hard enough to earn like 2'000 dollars already. And where the hell are you going anyways?" Lois questioned, determind to get the answers out of Felicity.
"How about option number 3, where I'm not a thief and is actually a very lazy person, and a person just gave it to me so I can wear something suitable to accompany him to a gala of sorts?" She said briskly, walking over to the large mirror where she looked at herself. A slinky, velvet black dress that just fell over her figure, hugging her in the right places; making the features she had highlighted. She was amazed at Lex's fashion choices and applauded them. But that didn't mean she felt bad for making him spend on her, especially since they were just friends. And the diamonds on her wrists, neck, and ears didn't help either. Her makeup, just a little touch of bronze lip gloss and brown eyeshadow, already was too much for her but she was expecting models to be there, and she would like to at least be at the bottom of a very long list of pretty woman at the charity gala. The catch was though, that it was Lex's charity gala. She still remembers asking her to be his plus one, which she thought made him seem even cuter in her mind now.
"Felicity?" Lex asks over the phone, obviously nervous by his tone.
"Yeah?"
"I'm so sorry, but we won't be able to jet anywhere for the next week. I have this stupid charity gala that I has forgotten about and I was planning to bring you to the Swiss Alps but I obviously failed and forgot and I seriously apologize-"
"Lex, it's okay. Flying me to wherever is something I would never expect in my wildest dreams, so you don't need to say sorry. You spoil me enough with chocolate." She can feel his smile through the call, and she smiles herself.
"But- I can still take you on a date, though it's not as cool in my opinion, but I'd like you to hear it out."
"And I already know it's going to be the best. Shoot."
"Would you, be, uhm, my plus one in the charity gala I'm hosting?" The line stayed silent, Felicity downright shocked.
"Hello?"
"Yeah?"
"So?" Fear in his voice as he said the word.
"Of course I'll go with you! Although there are so much things. Where will I get the dress, how the fuck am I supposed to act in front of classy people, and I'm going to be Lex Luthor's date HOLYYYY SHIT." She breathed out, heart hammering and heart racing at the the thought of being his date.
"The dress will be taken care of, and honestly, there's no one I'd rather invite to be with me in the gala." He flirts, and she blushes. She knows that she likes him, and the decision to kiss him is really getting harder to resist now. But she's unsure, as to whether or not he likes her back, as much as words and evidence prove it.
"Well, okay. I'll, uh, see you tomorrow then?"
"Yeah, you will."

She waited nervously for Lex to come. It was 5:43, and he said that he would come pick her up at 5:45. Anxious, she reminded herself of how she was to behave during the night. Keep calm, act like you're used to these fancy charity galas, and try not to drink too much. She looked at herself too many times in the mirror already, and she was just anticipating the knock on the apartment door. Lois left soon after gushing about how Felicity's going to "get it" tonight, and said something about staying the night over with her new boyfriend, Clark. Felicity absentmindedly nodded, thinking about the gala and Lex and other things. The door knocked, making her jump out of instinct. She looked at herself for the hundredth time before opening the door, revealing a most handsome Lex Luthor. He was carrying green hyacinths, and wearing a black suit. His whole ensemble was black, and she admitted to herself that he looked so hot at that moment. She smiled, kissing his cheek and gingerly taking the flowers he was gesturing for her to take. Meanwhile, he was thinking the same thing. She looked absolutely breathtaking, the dress that he had picked with her matched his and her face shone with absolute confidence and happiness.
"Thanks for the flowers. You didn't need to buy them, you know."
"It's an obligatory thing. Shall we get going?" She nodded, placing the flowers on a table and taking his arm. They walk up to the limousine, which just shocks her but she keeps it to herself. They enter and they sit down, making themselves comfortable. Lex notices her nervousness and and stares at her eyes, which are staring at her fiddling hands.
"Hey, you okay?"
"No."
"What's wrong?" He goes close to her, lifting up her chin. She looks at him, green eyes staring back at grey.
"I just feel like every other woman there is going to look like Gisele Bunchen or Miranda Kerr and-"
"Hey, hey. Look at me. You are the prettiest girl I know, okay? If you don't feel pretty, just look at me or a mirror, preferably me, and just see the girl that's there is always smiling and positive, which is something not all "pretty" women have." He smiles at her, which just makes her want to melt in his arms. She gets over the subject, moving obviously to the topic of how cute golden retrievers are, hoping he hadn't noticed. But he did, and let it slide. But only because he would make her learn her lesson another time. They popped the champagne in the drink holder beside them, and they both cheered to their date and for her, the hope of getting a shiba inu. They talked about dogs the whole car ride. She noticed they were getting closer, as photographers, fans, and people alike had begun to line up in the big street the gala was hosted in. The amount of cameras in the vicinity was amazing to Felicity, but also terrifying as her heart began to race. Suddenly, a warm hand was on top of hers, and she looked beside her, Lex looking at her concerned. She smiled, looking at him.
"Well, as long as I'm going to be with you the whole night, I'll be fine, right?"
"Yeah. You will." Lex said to her as they parked right in front of the red carpet, paparazzi knowing who it was already was and beginning to go frantic as they pushed for a sight of the golden boy and his unknown girl.
"Ready?"
"No, but okay."
