"Felicity! How are you dear?" Her father's voice resonated through the computer.
"Fine, dad! How's the trip going? I know it's a long drive from New York to Metropolis."
"It's going good. We're almost there, in fact we just hit Texas!"
"We miss you so much baby." Her mother said, busy driving. Felicity's eyes welled up with tears, emotional that she hadn't seen her parents in months.
"Well you're almost here! I'll be in my apartment when you arrive. But right now, I gotta go to work. See you later, love you!" They said their goodbyes and Felicity hung the call. She looked behind her, the large room seeming too empty. Getting up, she went through multiple hallways, walking faster as she passed by. She hit the jackpot when she saw Lex, back resting on the leather armchair, breakfast uneaten and eyes on his work.
"Hey, I gotta go work-"
"Okay. Do you want someone to drive you there or-"
"Alright. By the way, my parents are visiting and I want you to meet them. Be in my apartment at like, 7." She looked at Lex, waiting for an answer, but she just got a stiff nod, not even looking up from his computer. She left a flurry of emotions, grateful that he had comissioned his driver to drive her to the LexCorp building but overreacting that her boyfriend was being a mean jerk.

Lex couldn't control it sometimes, he knew. Under a lot of stress over the kryptonite and the plans and Wayne not accepting his deals, it was an understatement that he was not in the mood. He was on his laptop, minding his own goddamn business, when his hyper girlfriend had to enter and ruin his calm aura. And she had to mention her fucking parents, he thought. And that just reminded him of his. Luthor Sr. was a man of many aspects. But his only aspect towards his only son was one of cruelty and resentment. Marrying his mother out of the pregnancy, father dear was always bitter towards the child, never showing a bit of emotion and sentiment unless it was for the press. Luthor thought that Margaret Atwood would only be a one-night stand, but she ruined everything. So at her sudden death in childbirth, Lex's father couldn't help but put all his stirred up anger to his only son.
"Alexander, pass me the whiskey." His father said, unrelenting as he was on his seventh glass. The cyanide in his next glass didn't seem to go noticed, too. Alexander, at 15, watched his old man die by his own hands, frothing at the mouth and gasping for help to his hurt son. Only after a few minutes did he finally die, and Lex called the maid in. The young man now became one of the richest people in the world, billions at his side and the press everywhere. But he knew from the very beginning that he was a person of control, so he never let anyone get over him. It was only him as a leader from the start to whatever the end may be.
And as he stared down at his laptop, unfocused and irked off by his girlfriend, he felt he had to steam off this anger somehow. Making his way through the manor, he arrived at his most personal room, where he grew up. He pulled the box from under his bed, showing its contents for the world to see.
"Pick my poison," he said, looking over the different chemicals he could choose to delight himself with. He slowly picked up the packet filled with white powder, setting it on table. Reaching for his wallet in his pocket, he pulls out a credit card. He then proceeds to let out the fine powder, lining it up with the card, and quickly inhaling it. Leaning back on the metal of his bed, he closed his eyes, reaching a temporary bliss in the drug he had just administered upon himself. Knowing it would soon wear off a little before he had to go to his beloved's apartment, he relaxed, letting the endorphins and the hormones and the whatnot wash over him, and ultimately, drown him.
