I'm surprised I haven't seen this but here it is, in my inconsistent updates glory:
Earth. A place where most people have a superpower, a biological gift, that allows them to do things they couldn't a few generations ago. There was - of course, chaos at first, change always brings that. But finally, society seems to have stabilised. Unfortunately, a planet far far away was doing the exact opposite.
Krypton, a planet that had been prospering yet stagnant, was nearing its end. Rao was this planet's light, its sun. Red and beautiful. And the Kryptonians thrived under it. Their planet, however, did not. Radioactive elements began to leak into Krypton's core, after a mining expedition, and slowly began to destabilise the core of the planet.
Jor-El, a man driven by his passion for science and the love of his wife, Lara, soon became aware of the planet's destruction and desperately tried to convince those around him. Unfortunately, he was dismissed and ridiculed by those around him. He quickly lost hope in saving Krypton and decided he had to focus on saving his son. Kal-El.
Jor-El worked diligently, as fast as his body would let him. He wouldn't allow his son to befall the same fate as Krypton, and with the help of his wife, they managed to progress quickly in their plans. However, fate had different plans, and an earthquake had hit a larger deposit of radioactive material, catalysing the planet's destruction. Knowing both their lives were on borrowed time, Jor-El and Lara decided that they would not be leaving Krypton and finished the pod that would carry their baby boy away from his death.
Swaddling Kal-El in robes bearing his family's mark, and a tearful goodbye, Lara launched the pod. And spent her final moments in her husband's arms.
The pod left Krypton behind, and Kal-El drifted through space, unknowingly now on a journey to become the symbol of hope to a new world.
Earth would be receiving its Starman. Its Superman.
