I stood by the door in Mrs. Peterson's room, waiting for the bell to ring so I could go to lunch. I groaned as I realized that there was no way I'd be able to do my annotations for chapter eleven in Lord of the Flies. Not tonight.
The bell rang, and I was gone. I made it to the commons,and sat down next to Mark, who turned his head and gave me a kiss. A warm feeling of content surged through me, and I just wanted to transform and curl up next to him in front of a fire. I felt at peace. Until a loud voice shouted.
"Top of the morning to ya!" Jack vaulted over the table, and sat down on my other side.
"Hey Jack." I laughed.
Felix, his girlfriend Marzia.
Bob and his girlfriend.
Wade and his girl Molly.
Matthias and his girlfriend Amanda.
Matthias's brother J-Fred.
Bryan, Matthias's sister's boyfriend.
The inseparable Ryan and Matt.
Stone Face Tyler, who never showed any emotion.
The table filled up fast with our friends.
We joked, and stole each other's food like any group of high school boys until the bell rang and we went our separate ways.
I reluctantly let Bob drag me to Mr. Roth's class for biology, and sat down in my seat.
