The No Man's Land

Birthday

Victor's P.O.V:

"Today's Susan's birthday right?" I think to Adria.
"Yeah." She shouts from her room.
We all got rooms for ourselves when we got here, and Hanna and Lisa finally showed up about 5 hours after Sue and I did. Adria's room is right next to the library, Adrian's next to hers, Winter's next to his, Sue, then Hanna and Lisa (they were saved a room with 2 beds.), Noremac, then I'm at the very end of the hall.
"Come here." I think to her.
"Your room?" She thinks back.
"Yeah." I think back.
"Ok, I'll be right there." She thinks back.
Two minutes later, in walks Adria.
"I've got the party ALL planned out." I say.
"Oh no." She replies.
"First, I'm cooking spaghetti, then a game, then cake." I say.
"You can cook?" She replies, giving me a skeptical eyebrow.
"Yeah, quite well." I reply with a smirk.
"Then the game shall begin." Adria says, walking out of the room.
"Indeed it shall." I mumble.

"Anyone know where that fire extinguisher thing is?" I ask from the kitchen, over the sound and smell of burning pasta.
"Oh Gods, what did you do?" Asks Adria.
"Nothing. You cook with Adrian, I'll be back in 20 minutes." I say.
"Where are going?" Adria asks.
"Out." I reply.
"Out where?" She asks.
"Uh, burning pasta behind you." I reply, and run down the hall to Sue's room door. I knock, and Sue answers.
"Hey." She says.
"Hi." I say.
"Where's your uh, eyepatch?" She asks.
"Oh someone left these sunglasses here, so I swapped then out." I say.
"That's a really deep crimson red." She says.
"I know, almost blood red." I reply.
"So, why'd you knock on my door." She asks.
"I dunno, perhaps a birthday is today?" I jokingly say.
"How'd you know?" She asks.
"Just a lucky guess." I say.
She replies with an eye roll.
"Come with me for a second." I say.
"Where?" She asks.
"Here." I say, and pressing the reset button on the watch, sending us forward.
We land outside the hotel, with a broken door behind us.
"Is this a-" She tries to finish, but I cut in.
"A pond? Yeah. I found Adria and Adrian out here once." I say.
"So why'd you bring me here?" She asks.
"Because, I want to show you something." I say.
I reach in to the pond, and pull out a white lily.
"Is that an American Water Lily?" She asks.
"Yeah," I say handing it to her, "happy birthday."
"Thanks Victor." She says.
That's when I hear a blaring noise, and smoke coming out of the kitchen area.
"Oh no." I say.
"Let's go." Sue says, and we grapple in.

"So, you almost burned down the hotel." Says Sue to Adria.
"Yeah, well Victor started it." Says a defensive Adrian.
"Very true." Winter says.
"What now?" Asks Adria.
"A game me and Winter came up with." I say.
"Everyone has to tell a massive secret they've been hiding." Winter.
"Birthday girl, you start." I say.
"So, um, I actually like that vampire novel Dusk." Sue says.
"What?" Shrieks Adria.
"Moving on... Victor, you're next." Says Winter.
"I, um, might have accidentally destroyed a small portion of the library." I say.
"What?" Shrieks Adria even louder.
"Where'd you think I learned to cook?" I ask.
"Ok, so I'll go. I guess I hate being forever alone." Says Winter.
"I almost blew myself up making a chemical reaction with Xavier." Says Adrian.
"Same." Says Xavier.
"I'm immortal." Says Adria.
Everyone stares at her. Sue and Winter start to laugh, thinking it's a joke. Which, it's not.
"It's true, back when Victor was little, about 5, we became friends, and since he was my first friend, I gave him some powers." Says Adria.
"Like what?" Asks Winter, now genuinely believing her.
"Telepathy, telekinesis, psychokinesis, levitation, and that's I know of." Says Adria.
"Are you immortal too Victor?" Asks Sue.
"No." I say.
"So, who wants cake?" Asks Xavier, clearly trying to lighten to mood.
"Sure." Says Sue, a blank look on her face.
When we get to the kitchen, I grab a cake we all made from the fridge, then we begin to sing happy birthday.
"Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday dear Susan,
Happy birthday to-" Right before we can finish, a whole lot of guns and weapons are pointing are at us.
"You." The group says.
