"Cute!" squeals two voices from behind me.
Ino and Sakura stand in the doorway, eyes showing hearts.
"I know I am." I say, imitating Sanko's hair flip.
"Not you, the kitten!"
"Gee. Well, thanks, Ino. That made me feel super awesome. And Tsunade, Shizune....thank you so fucking much."
"No problem. You and Shikamaru kept everybody alive, you kind of deserve it. And about the cat, she's a ninneko, so she'll be able to fight with you. I do wonder how she'll react to Kiba and Akamaru..." Shizune's voice trails off.
I sweatdrop.
Oh yeah....
"She's a cat. They're unpredictable." I wave my hand and walk out the door with my kitten, Ino and Sakura trailing behind me like baby ducks.
Thinking about ducks makes me think about....
Damn Sasuke.

Ino and Sakura still trying to steal my cat, I run to the hospital to show Naruto.
When I get to his room, he's tied to his bed.
"What did you do..."
"Hey Yuukina. Sakura. Ino. What's with the cat?"
"Shizune and Tsunade gave her to me as a present for keeping everybody alive on the mission. She's a ninneko."
"Hey! A ninja cat! Cool!"
I set Nakomi down on Naruto's chest, and he smiles at the kitten.
"What's her name?"
"Nakomi."
When we're done talking to Naruto, Ino and I leave, but Sakura stays a little bit longer.
Ino says she wants to visit Choji, so I run over to Kiba's house.
"Hey, cool! A cat!"
"Not just any cat," I say proudly, holding up a finger, "This one's a ninneko!"
"Awesome!"
Akamaru barks.
"From Tsunade and Shizune. Her name's Nakomi."
"So cute! Can I...well, she....I'm basically a dog...."
"You can try. Don't blame me if she scratches your face off..." I say, holding out the cat.
Nakomi purrs contently in Kiba's arms.
"I think....that she likes you." I inform him.
Apparently she's cool with dogs. And dogs are cool with her. Good to know.
Kiba hands Nakomi back to me as if she were a little explosive.
"Hey, would you...be cool with...um....going on a date with me when I get better? Hana won't let me leave the house yet."
My face turns pink.
"Yeah. Sure. To where?"
"Probably to get some food and then for a walk around the village. Sound okay?"
"Sounds amazing. Thanks. And the sooner you get better, the sooner that can happen."
For some reason, I think I can sense Sakura's chakra at the village gates. And she's with...Naruto?!
"Oh, shit."
"What's up?"
"I really have to leave. I'm so sorry. But I need you to take care of Nakomi while I'm gone. And tell Lady Tsunade....tell her....tell her I will bring Naruto and Sakura back. They're planning to go get Sasuke by themselves. I might be gone for a few days, but I will be back." I explain frantically.
