I fingered at my planner for school; Now that I am in 8th grade I figured it might be easier to keep track of things this way. November 16th, 2014: History test, Sentence corrections due for Language Arts. I closed it and gently slid it into my backpack and zipped it shut. I sighed softly as I walked to the shimmering bus stop, waiting for both Jess and the bus itself. Jess had told me she would catch up with me, to just wait here. I finally saw her face appear out of the shadows of the houses around us, her bright blue back-pack appeared almost to be black. Her face was pale and she stared at the ground as she walked, almost walking into me.

"Jess?" I murmured. "Are you alright?" She nodded her head numbly and stared at her feet. I decided a joke might make her feel better. "Are you sure? You look as if it is your Expiration Date." I smiled and nudged her. Her face went even more pale and she flinched. Her hand was covering her Mark hopefully, as if the thought that she couldn't see it, would make is disappear forever. Jessica looked up and met my gaze. Her eyes filled with fear and remembrance. My purple eyes widened.

Expiration Date: November 16th, 2014

"You will expire today...." I whispered, but shut my mouth as soon as it opened as I saw the bewildered look on her face. She nodded sadly. No...no, no, no, no, no! I can't lose her... She's my only friend... My only Ray of sunshine in this forsaken world...

"Brooklyn?" Jess whispered quietly.

"Yes?" I blinked.

"I.... want us to stay apart.. for this one day... I don't want you to see when it happens..." I blinked at her sympathetically and hugged her.

"We both know that you don't want to die alone." We both flinched. No matter how encouraging things sounded in my head... They always sound so painful aloud. Jessica nudged me accidentally, and to my surprise, she started crying. Misery choked my throat. Jessica was always generally that happy, ongoing girl who would do anything to cheer up anybody. It took a lot to make her cry. The bus arrived and allowed us to get on. I sat down on an empty bench and scooted to the end and patted the seat beside me and smiled at Jessica. Her face was bright red and a few tears still dripped down her face and she sat in the seat behind me. I sat up on my knees and looked over my seat to look at Jessica. She was huddled in a feedle position shivering. I took my jacket out of my back-pack and wrapped it around her. She stopped rocking back and forth, trembling on the gray colored leather seat, so all you could hear is her whispering something. A loud and obnoxious voice belted from the back of the bus.

"Aw.. look at the wittle Cowgirl. All alone and sad. Like usual." The idiot turned around and high-fived his three friends. Nicolas.. I gritted my teeth. Nobody talks to my friends like that... especially the ones that are like family to me... especially not today...

"Hey!" I barked, annoyed. "Leave her alone!" Nicolas turned and glared at me.

"Hey, boys, she can speak!" He laughed harshly and took a step forward, meeting my gaze. "And what is Brook-worm going to do about it, give me another grammar lesson?" He grinned as my face went bright red. Partially because I saw his expiration date wasn't for a like 40 years, which meant I couldn't just throw him out of the bus. Also, Brook-worm was my special nickname Jess had given to me due to me always having a good book to read at any moment, (mostly because I was trying to avoid eye contact with everybody else because nobody else knows I'm an Amoris.) But it is only special when Jessica uses it. I clenched my hands into fists.

"You don't even know how to spell Grammar." I fumed at the blue eyed idiot and his three puppets who just simply agreed to everything he said. He grinned.

"G-r-a-m......" He paused, and I regarded his annoyed look with cool satisfaction. "It doesn't matter... at least I have friends to back me up!" Before I could speak, Jessica got to her feet.
