What is Depression?

Depression is being numb yet in pain, being exhausted yet unable to sleep, being okay one moment and shattered the next. Depression is a dark presence that is somehow the only thing always there for you. Depression is something we want to battle against, try to battle against, but more often than not, we give up against. Depression pushes a dead soul around in a still-alive body. Depression is tears and the inability to produce tears. Depression is bleeding without visible wounds, until we form them. Depression tells us the truth about ourselves, but causes us to lie to others. Depression is being alone and yet "seeking attention". Depression is having a billion emotions and not being able to express them. Depression makes extroverts into introverts. Depression is both "made-up" and a clinical disease. Depression is the most contradictory thing... and yet, it's the one in control.
