I grabbed my jacket as we left out the front door. I realized, a second too late, that I had grabbed my black bomber coat, which didn't really help my whole elegant theme. "Oh well." I thought as Alex locked clicked the lock into place. Alex raised his eyebrows when he saw my jacket choice, but quickly nodded his head in approval. I noticed for the first time how cold it was out here, and an involuntary shudder racked my body. Alex came a step closer, wrapping his arms around me. We stood like that, my head on his chest, his tight embrace corsing heat through me. He pulled back, looking me in the eyes.

"Now...." he began, looking like he was leaning in for a kiss. I got ready for him to meet my lips. I opened my eyes at the last second and saw that he stopped moving forward, inches from my face.

"TO THE BATMOBILE!!!!" he yelled, leaping for the car. I rolled my eyes.

"I really should have known." I thought to myself as I climbed in shotgun. Alex shot me a sideways glance as he started the car. Warmth instantly flooded over me, now that the heat was finally turned on. Alex pounded on the gas pedal, and we were off to Charleston, a restaurant that I'd never even heard of, let alone gone to.

When we arrived I was instantly glad that I went with a classy look. This was obviously a fancy restaurant, I know I knew why i'd never heard of it. I could never afford to eat here, and was a little shocked that Alex could. I mean, I knew he was in a band and all, but I guess I didn't think that they were BIG. I mean, come on! This place was filled with fucking doctors and lawyers, and here we look like a bunch of kids, who swear and drink too much.

"Oh well, fuck them." I thought as I noticed a couple of waiters glaring at me and Alex as we walked to the table. So what if we were loud and talkative. Who cares if we didn't use the best language....

The waiter who was shooting us dirty looks showed us to our table, smiling at us the whole way. When we found it, the waiter turned to Alex, "I hope this table is to your liking?"

"Of corse," Alex replied, his voice oozing sincerity, "You've done a tremendous job, and should be commended on your walking abilities." When the server turned around, Alex flipped him off behind his back.

We turned around together to face the table. It instantly fell silent, all the faces turning to look at us. I only remembered two of them, Rian and Zack. Seeing Zack made me guilty, and he dropped his gaze quickly. My face flushed red, and I quickly sat down when alex pulled out my chair for me.

The dinner chatter went back to normal, and I relaxed a little, smiling and laughing along as Jack began quoting all the Home Alone movies. "Is this toothbrush approved by the American dental association?" he quoted. Just as he was finishing, Alex stood up abruptly, and held out his hand for me to do the same. Alex cleared his throat and waited for everyone to be paying attention. When everyone was facing us, he began.........

"Ok, so as you guys all probably know, Melinda and I are together." At this he turned and gave me a smile. He turned back and continued with his speech. "We really love each other, and we wanted to make it official to all of our closest friends." I supposed that I should say something too, but I was tounge tied, and just stood there waiting for the response. A mumur broke out, and I received a couple nods, and a big hug from Jack. Nothing was verbalized, that is until Rian stood up.

"A toast!!!" he called, tapping his wine glass like people do in corny movies, "to the newest couple among us, Alex and Melinda!!" the room was filled with clanging noises as everyone hit they're glasses with their forks. Everyone, except one person.

One dinner later, we were all standing outside, arguing about who should have to go get the cars. The calateral damage at the end of our meal was four broken wine glasses, two stained jackets, another restaurant that we couldn't eat at anymore, and many, MANY uses of the word fuck. Alex and Jack stood off to the side, still chuckling about the wine fight they had gotten into.

After serious debate, it was decided that everyone but me and Rian would go get the cars, then drive back up here to pick us up. Everyone took off jogging, leaving me and Rian alone in the dark. Rian turned to face me.

"I'm sorry about the phone call earlier." he started. "I know it's not really my business, I just didn't wanna see anyone else get hurt."

"No, it's totally ok." I told him. "And seriously, thanks for caring." he responded with a nod, and looked off into the distance. I began to daydream, sailing away to a beach where Alex and I were alone. We were lying in the sand, the sun baking on our backs. He was just reaching up to caress my face......

I was jerked out of my fantasy by a car horn. Kara had arrived to pick up Rian. He looked back at me before heading to the car.

"Go ahead, I'll be fine." I told him.

"Are you sure?" he asked, looking worried.

"Yeah, Alex should be here any second." I responded. He nodded and was gone with a wave.

I stood outside in the freezing cold, wondering where Alex was. I was just about to go find him when I saw a figure approaching. I sighed in relief, thinking that it had to be Alex.

"Hey what took you so long?" I called as he approached. He didn't anwser, just kept walking forward, which I thought was very strange. I was about to call again when I realized that the figure was a lot taller than Alex, and a lot more muscular too. I began to think that it might be Zack, and ran up to ask him if he knew where Alex was.

"Hey, do you know where Alex i......." I stopped short, realizing that the man wasn't Zack.

"Do you need my help finding someone?" he asked, with a smile that made my skin crawl.

"No, I see him right now." I lied quickly, trying to get around him. Right as I thought I was going to make it, he grabbed my wrist hard enough to make me cry out.

"What's the rush? Why don't you stay for a while." he told me, this time really scaring me. I drew in my breath to get out a loud scream. I started to let it out, but the man grabbed me by the neck, cutting off my air supply. I clawed at his hands, already realizing that it was futile. He gave a low chuckle, then dragged me around the corner to the alley behind.

"Come on baby, dont be like that." he let go of my neck just as I was beginning to see black dots swim before my eyes. He grabbed me again, this time by my dress. He started to rip it off, tearing the fabric like paper. I made a better escape attempt this time, punching him in the face.

This time he was mad, throwing me on the ground. "Now you're gonna die bitch!" he spat at me, and began to punch and kick me ferociously. With each blow he spat out an insult of bitch or hoar.

He pulled back his leg and snapped a hard blow to the side of my head, turning my vision fuzzy. another blow and my vision was going black. One more and I was gone completely. My last coherent thought was this......

"I love you Alex."
