I'll tell you a true story from several years ago...

It was at night.
A dark and stormy night.
The lights were off.
The only light was from the TV in the living room.
My elder brother and my father were watching a movie.
A horror movie.
It was boring.
I wandered off into the night.
Not.
I went into the dining room.
The hail had started.
Pushing the curtains aside, I squinted through the barred window.
Curiosity satisfied, I backed away.
There was a dark shape on the curtain where my legs had touched.
I couldn't see very well in the dark and without my glasses on.
I turned on the light.
Oh.
My.
God.
A giant eight-legged creature.
Shiny, black and a drop of blood red.
Makes me cringe.
A redback.
Screw it.
Told my dad.
He got a tissue and grabbed the spider with it.
Guess what's next little critter?
Into the toilet you go!
We just watched it swimming around in the bowl.
How satisfying, just watching it drown.
Meanwhile, my mother was mopping the house.
Then she came and ruined the party.
She said she had to clean the toilet.
She told us that was disgusting and flushed the toilet.
I couldn't tell if she meant our behaviour or the spider.
It didn't matter.
It was fun watching it.
She shoved us out so we went back to the living room.
Back to the movie which was just about to finish.

Finis.
