Draco's POV
Another pathetic year at Hogwarts. I'd already been here for two years. Now I was half-way through my third. It was pretty boring, but one good thing was that I got to pick on Potter and his friends. Like when we got to go to Hogsmead and encountered Weasley and Granger.
"Well, well, look who's here," I said to Crabbe and Goyle with a smirk. "You two shopping for a new dream home? Bit grand isn't it for you, Weaslebee? Don't your family sleep in, uh, one room?"
"Shut your mouth, Malfoy," Weasley retorted sharply.
"Ooh, not very friendly. Boys, I think it's time we teach Weaslebee how to respect his superiors," I said with a smile.
Granger laughed. "Hope you don't mean yourself!"
"How dare you talk to me, filthy little Mudblood!" I hissed.
Well, I'd rather not say what happened after that. It would ruin my reputation. But I will say that I kind of saw Granger a different way after that. She had actually stood up to me, unlike any other Mudbloods I snapped at.
Then there was another time later in the year. After we found out that stupid hippogriff had been sentenced to death, me and my goons were outside boasting about it. When I looked up, I saw Potter, Weasley, and Granger comming toward us.
"Ah, come to see the show?" I asked them.
"You!" Granger snapped. " You foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach!"
She pulled her wand and pointed it right in my face. I cringed back against the wall, actually really afraid. I knew that she knew many more spells than I did. Who knew what she would do to me.
"Hermione, no!" Weasley said behind her. "He's not worth it."
After a long pause, Granger lowered her wand. I started laughing. Then she snapped back and punched me in the face. I almost fell down, but Crabbe and Goyle caught me. I pulled myself up quickly and ran away. But I glanced back at her one more time and looked her in the eyes. She had stood up to me again. I actually kind of admired her for that.
The rest of that day, I thought about Granger. I just couldn't get her out of my head. She had always stood up to me when I insulted her. And even I had to admit she was pretty. Of course, no one would ever know that. Hopefuly no one would ever find out I had been practically obsessing over her that day.
That night, I went out for a walk by the Forbidden Forest. I was still thinking about her. I didn't want to admit to myself what I was feeling for her. But I just couldn't get her out of my head!
I finally stopped and just leaned against a tree, concealed by the shadows. I looked up at the moon, still trying to figure out what I should do. Then I saw Granger comming out of the castle. Apparently she had lost her cat. I thought I saw it walk by me a while ago.
And I must have really been hidden by the shadows bcause Granger walked right by me without seeing me. After a moment's hesitation, I whispered, "Granger."
She turned around quickly, obviously surprised to see me there. The moonlight made her brown eyes and the blonde strands in her hair stand out. I, once again, had to admit she was beautiful. But she only looked at me for a minute, narrowing her eyes. Then she turned her back on me an started to walk away.
I grabbed her wrist quickly and spun her back around toward me, leaving barely any space between us. I wasn't even really thinking about what I was doing. I was just doing it. I looked her in the eyes, locking my gaze on hers.
"That was an impressive punch, Granger," I whispered honestly.
She stayed silent, a slightly dazed look on her face. I looked deeply in her eyes, thinking about what to say next and what to do.
"No one's ever stood up to me before," I said quietly, pulling her even closer so there was only about an inch between us.
"I would have snapped sooner or later," she finally said quietly, her voice sounding small.
I leaned down a little and whispered in her ear. "I like that about you."
I heard her breaths starting to quicken a little and smiled slightly. I locked my eyes on hers, just letting my emotions show for once. It looked like she had conflicting emotions, but she hadn't even tried to get away yet. And I knew I had never felt anything like this before. Not even for Pansy.
Before I even really knew what I was doing, I pressed my lips to hers. I kissed her urgently, but passionately at the same time. She was obviously shocked at first, but then she was kissing me back the same way.
I slowly let go of her wrist and wrapped my arms around her waist. Her arms wrapped around my neck. Then it was like we melted together.
I, Draco Malfoy, pureblood Slytherin, was in love with Hermione Granger, a muggle born witch.
This would be dangerous. But right then and there, I didn't care.
