When I woke up I was in a spot that was warm and lifted my hand to feel the sheets.
"Grayson?"
I sat up and looked around the room unable to see him.
I looked at the alarm clock and got up realizing that I needed to get ready for waking up at that time for school tomorrow.
He stood at the counter with a cup as I walked to my seat.
"Why'd you leave me" I asked.
"I couldn't sleep."
"Morning sickness sweetheart?"
"Haha. The only one that can get morning sickness and will is you" he said and I swallowed.
"That's not funny" I said.
"I'm kidding, want some coffee?"
I nodded and a cup was placed in front of me.
"You know I thought you wouldn't be that warm but you are so comfy and warm" he told me.
"Unlike you. You're a rock and you're freezing." I lied looking at him with a smile.
"I don't see how I was cold because you were keeping me warm."
"Trust me you need to start wearing clothes at night to stay warm." I took a drink of what was supposed to be coffee but tasted hot chocolate. "Grayson this isn't coffee" I said.
"I'm still tired sleeping Wolfie and I need sleep too."
"Oh." I just drank it with no more words said about it.
We didn't really have anything to talk about.
"So do you do this often" I asked.
"When I can't sleep" he told me.
"That's cool."
"No it's not. You really shouldn't start a conversation." His little bits of laughter filled my ears and I actually didn't know how to break a silence.
"How would you break a silence" I asked.
"Like, so how'd you sleep because I obviously didn't sleep well. Or maybe, how's the drink because I could help you out. But then there's, he sweet thang wanna go back to bed with me" he said and we both laughed at the last one.
"Geez you are good."
"Doesn't run in my blood obviously."
I laughed even harder and I was gonna spill the cup all over me. I put it down and just laughed.
A noise caught my ears and I stopped. It was at the door and I ran over to Grayson.
"Shh" he said and we walked over to the door. He grabbed the lock and unlocked it hearing a noise again.
"Ow" he whisper yelled.
"Did I step on your heel" I asked looking down.
"No your nails are digging into my shoulders." I looked up at released his shoulders from my claws.
He opened the door and a little kitten let out her small roar.
I smiled and walked over to it as Grayson had bent down to grab her.
"She looks like a white tiger" I said petting her head.
Grayson lifted her body up like in The Lion King but backwards.
"Jordan it's a boy" he said and I felt bad.
"Sorry mister" I said and petted his small soft head.
He let out a little cry and purred as I moved a finger from his right ear to the left.
"I'm gonna go see if someone is missing him" he told me and ran off leaving me with the little kitten who kept purring.
"Hey pretty boy" I said and he mewed in reply. It almost looked like he was smiling as I cradled him.
"He's not missing and he doesn't have a collar" Grayson said as he ran back.
"So we should walk around and ask people" I said.
"We'll wait till tomorrow okay let's just keep him tonight."
He took him from my arms and went into the kite where he gave him a can of cat food.
"Why do you have that" I questioned.
"I was drunk and bought a packet just three weeks ago."
I shook my head and watched the cat eat it like he had never eaten before.
"He's all dirty so maybe he's a stray" Grayson said fluffing up his fur on his head.
"I guess we could keep for as long as it takes for his maybe owner to realize he's gone" I told him.
"Yay we get to keep him" Grayson yelled and threw his arms up so he could lift me up after.
"Grayson put me down" I yelled.
He placed me gently down and I finally breathed.
"Sorry I just really wanna keep him" he told me.
"Fine. Bring him to the vet tomorrow and if nothing registers with him then you can keep him.
