Entry #5: unforgiven

my sister once told me

she made a new friend at school.

tall, dark, and handsome, as she put it.

with those piercing green eyes,

that made every girl swoon.

and although he always wore

this charming smile,

I knew behind it was a person,

so callous and vile.

my sister came home from school,

and talked to him all night,

so moved by his words,

and the soothing sound of his voice,

while I had to fight back the urge,

to scream and roll my eyes,

at the way she fell so easily,

for a man who was full of lies.

she painted her eyes,

and puckered her lips,

and tried to make herself thinner,

because she wanted to be his.

I watched her in dismay,

at the way she changed so quickly,

not knowing how she would feel,

and not knowing,

what it would do to me.

my sister came into my room,

and silently crept into her bed,

but not before I was able to see,

the way her eyes were burning red.

and I watched as a single tear

went rolling down her cheek,

while she admitted that I was right,

before I watched her crumble and bleed.

he had taken everything that was left,

wanting to crush her from the start,

playing her around like a toy,

hoping to break her little heart.

and I knew I saw right through him,

from the moment she let him in,

and that's only one of the reasons why

I could never forgive him

for what he did.
