we drink in the evening, we sink
into the grass, kick off our shoes
and look at the lit up night sky
feet dipped in water, hydrating our dreams
a much-needed reflection.
anything was possible there
conversations about you, me, the state of the nation
and what exactly everyone's afraid of
when nobody can hear you except the mirror-like water
and the moon and the stars
moonlight, we agreed
was an underrated source of wisdom.
the sun is tans and vitamins for teenage barbie dolls.
while the moon is dreams alight,
an embodiment of midnight thoughts
that disappear in the morning dew.
