When Darkness Falls (Part Two) ✔️

Chapter 4

Darth Vader. Obi-Wan Kenobi thought. And to think I brought Leia with, to the very same building. I have a bad feeling about this.

"I am quite curious to know what this most important matter is that you have come to discuss is." Vader said with a smirk.

"Emperor Vader, Master Kenobi." began Queen Apailana. "I would ask to please take your seats so that we can enjoy a pleasant dinner. Then afterward, we can begin our discussions."

Emperor Vader—with great irritation—and Obi-Wan Kenobi silently took their seats and waited to be served. The meal was quite an awkward one, as it had been many years since Obi-Wan had shared a meal with Darth Vader. In fact, the last time they had done such, was when Anakin Skywalker met Obi-Wan Kenobi at Dex's Diner to talk about Anakin's nightmare. But after the long, awkward meal of many courses, the Queen was ready to begin business.

"I first and foremost would like to apologize for the delay on both your inquiries." the queen said, rising from her seat. "Now, who would like to go first?"

"Well," began Vader, smirking. "I think your Master Jedi friend here seems very eager to discuss his matter with you. Let him go first."

"How thoughtful of you Emperor." replied Queen Apailana, her face remained emotionless. "Master Kenobi you may begin."

I see what he's doing. It won't work though. thought Obi-Wan. "If you'll excuse me, your highness, I would like to have this conversation in private. For there are certain ears who must not hear what I am about to say."

"As you wish Master Kenobi." said the queen before turning to the guards. "Please leave us. I shall call you back in when you are needed."

As commanded, the royal guards turned and bowed, and then exited the dining hall. Those who remained were Queen Apailana, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and much too eager and delighted, Emperor Vader.

"Your Highness," Obi-Wan shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "This conversation is one that is strictly between two people. Yourself and I. Of course, I mean no disrespect, but as of right now there are three people in this room."

"I see what you mean, Master Kenobi. But since Emperor Vader is, well...the emperor, he should not be forced from hearing conversations that are related to the well being of his empire, for I believe that is why you are here. Am I correct?"

"Well...yes, I suppose it is." sighed Obi-Wan.

"My queen, I couldn't agree more. For if I didn't know what was going on in my empire, how would I be able to do anything about it?" Vader said with a grin. "Now, Obi-Wan. It is time for you to stop putting off your discussion in hopes that I will have to leave, for I won't be going until I get what I want."

"As you wish...Emperor."
