Chapter-43

Bruno's POV:

"shh.. be quiet, you little fucker! He's asleep." I heard Alex's voice who might have been whispering but we all know she couldn't whisper a thing. 

"Babe, you are the one who's been talking all the time." Kevin interrupted her. 

"Why always me?! Oh no you don't. Not you too Steven." She scolded Steven. 

I thought it was time for me to open my eyes. First, my eyes landed on the unfamiliar white ceiling then they rested on my friends who were gathering around me. Kevin was the first one who saw me and he smiled at me. I nodded my eyes and gestured him to keep silent putting my finger on my lip. 

Alex was standing with her back to me. "Why not? You can be very loud sometimes." Steven saw me too and retorted to her while placing his hand on his hip acting all bimbo. 

She scowled at him and gave him middle finger. Both boys burst out laughing at that. 

"I agree." I said as I sat up on the bed. 

Alex gasped hearing me and she ran to my bed side excitedly. Then she glared at the boys for not telling her that I woke up. 

"Oh Bruno, I thought you got seriously hurt when we all heard you're in hospital. Not to mention, Steven here might have exaggerated a little." She said while pulling me into a hug. 

"We all are worrying about you." Kevin said. I quickly looked around the room for someone. 

"If you are wondering, she's in the other room." Steven said noticing me looking around. 

"What? Did she?" I asked them worry seeped into me. 

Sophie's POV;

I stood waiting in front of the vending machine to get a drink. I searched for the coins in my pockets and pulled them out. A coin slipped from my hand which fell on the floor and rolled over to the left. Damn.

I managed to step on it to stop from getting further, when I crouched down to pick it up, I was face to face with a wheelchair. I looked up and there was her. 

"Jade." I stood up quickly and cleared my throat. "Ahem, would you like a drink?" I offered her, decided that she'd need this after a long night. 

She just shook her head softly, I nodded at her and waited for my coffee. "How's he?" I asked her. 

"He's stable now though he hasn't woke up yet." She replied me letting out a sigh. She looked very tired. It had been a long day for us. I couldn't think of the time since I heard that loud gun shot. 

I was so scared. 

Things happened in a blur in front of me. I remembered Steven came running to me right after the gun shot and asked me to go with him. I was shocked to see Bruno lying on the ground.

Then my eyes found Jake who was crouched with his knee down while holding his stomach and there were blood everywhere. He was shot. 

Then a man whom I had never seen before, holding a gun. He stood there like a statue unable to move from the spot. A moment later, ambulance came and took the guys to the hospital. 

I took the coffee cup out when I saw it was ready. "He will be okay. And I am sorry you've to go through this." I told her. 

She grabbed a hold of my hand to my surprise. "I am grateful somehow it was Jake. If it were Bruno who's got shot, I don't know how am I ever going to face Bruno again. Take care of him, for me." 

My eyes softened at her words, she was such an angel. I wondered why I hated her just thinking she's once Bruno's girlfriend. It sounded so stupid now. That's why they say, 'Don't judge a book from its cover.'
