Retrospection

Dream

One day I was in the hospital just watching you sleep and my eyes were getting heavy but I wanted to stay awake. I fought so hard to stay awake but my eyes closed on me and sleep took over. I had dreamt that you were awake and perfectly fine. No injuries or bruises. You were giving me that perfect smile of yours. I touched my cheeks and was surprised to feel liquid streaming down them. I could see your lips moving but I couldn't hear you. I asked you to repeat what you said but you just waved and started walking away. I chased after you and I felt like I was running in place. I was just about to yell out your name but I heard beeping sounds, similar to an alarm clock but it was no clock. I woke up feeling panicked and people surrounding you. I wanted to see what was happening but there were too many people. A nurse lead me outside. I paced back and forth just hoping you would be okay. I felt something deep inside. I felt like I knew what was going to happen.
