We rolled up to the back of the aquarium, Jamie had driven us here in the car he was giving us so we could get to the train station
"We'll be fine Jamie, right Bry?" Shelby answered as I continued to stare at the building in front of me
"Yeah... yeah for sure" I mumbled shaking myself out of my trance
"Alright just be careful, you only have a short amount of time" He said handing me his key card, all three of us got out of the car
"Thanks Jamie for everything" I said giving him a weak smile
"No problem just be safe alright? Text me when you get to Benalla" Jamie said with a worried look on his face
"We will, come on Bry" Shelby said grabbing my arm gently and we began walking to the back of the aquarium
"Get in, get out" I mumbled quietly to myself taking a deep breath in before sliding the key card into the scanner. It turned green and a small beep sounded as the door unlocked allowed Shelby and I to enter, it was quite and dark. I could feel Shelby gripping onto my arm as we walked down the cold concrete hallways leading towards Chai's tank
"It's freezing in here" She mumbled as we continued to walk
"We won't be here for long" I replied trying to calm her down a little, we arrived at the door leading to the back of Chai's tank
"This is it" I said quietly taking out the key card again, I put it in the scanner and the door clicked open. The room was illuminated a light blue colour from the water from inside the tank
"There he is" Shelby said into the tank when Chai was curled up on one of the perches inside the tank. Shelby and I quickly ran up the metal flight of stairs that led up to the top of Chai's large tank. Shelby and I both walked onto the plastic top of the tank and kneeled down at the opening in the lid
"Chai! Chai wake up!" I whispered loud enough so he'd be able to hear me in the water, he moved out of his fetal position and looked up at Shelby and I. His eyes widened as he began to swim up to us and I noticed he was a lot slower than normal, he broke the surface of the water and clung to the top of the tank
"What are you two doing here?" He asked, his words slightly slurred
"We're getting you out of here and we're ditching town" Shelby replied grabbing the towel out of her bag that we were going to use to dry Chai off so we could get him changed
"How did you get in here?" He asked
"Long story let's just get you out" I replied grabbing onto one of his arms and Shelby grabbed the other allowing us to pull him easily out of the water and onto the top of the tank. We both began drying him off and soon enough he was human, we quickly changed him into clothes so we could go
"Can you stand?" Shelby asked, he tried standing up but quickly fell back down to his knees
"He's too weak, can you carry him?" She asked me, I nodded and put my arm under his knees and the other one around his back so I could support his skinny body
"Let's get out of here" Shelby exclaimed, we quickly rushed down the metal stairs and out of the door before shutting it behind us. Just as we thought we where clear to start down the hallway we came in through the room lit up red and a loud alarm started blaring
"What the hell?!" I exclaimed
"Don't question it let's just go!" Shelby shouted pushing me, I broke out into a run with her close behind me. We got outside and I put Chai in the back with Shelby and I got into the front seat quickly turning the car on.
"How far away is the station?" I asked Shelby
"15 minutes away" She replied, I nodded and began driving out of the staff car park and down the road towards the train station
"How is he?" I asked not looking back
"He's fine, just hurry! We won't have much time till the police are after us" Shelby shouted at me, suddenly a loud siren cut through the silence
"Speak of the devil" I sighed putting my foot down not caring if I was speeding
"What are we gonna do?" Chai asked
"We're going to get to the train station if it kills us" I replied
"There is three cars chasing us, they'll be calling for back up soon no doubt" Shelby panicked looking out the back window
"Well we'll just have to deal with it" I said my hands going white on the steering wheel, we continued speeding down the road for 10 minutes and before long we had 7 cars and 2 helicopters chasing us
"We have to loose them!" I exclaimed looking back over to the back window
"Look out!" Shelby screamed, I looked forwards just in time to see a road block and spike strips laid across the road
"SHIT!" I shouted as we went through the spike strip causing the wheels to begin to go down, I spun the wheel hard causing the car to go spinning out of control. The car rolled down a hill and down in the forest before coming to a stop upside down, my ears where ringing and my head pounding as I looked back to see if Chai and Shelby where alright
"You guys alright?" I asked, all the blood rushing to my head from being upside down
"Yeah we're fine, we got to get out and run before they catch up" Shelby exclaimed, I nodded and undid my seat belt causing me to thump onto the roof of the car. I opened the door and crawled out just as Shelby pulled Chai out, I picked him up again and looked around seeing flash lights heading towards us
"We don't have time to get the luggage we need to go!" I exclaimed, she nodded and we began running towards the train station which wasn't too far away. Just as the train station was in sight a loud bang rang through the air and a blood curling scream followed
