Good Day

Jessie:"jay!"
Jay:"I'm up I'm up."
Jessie:"your late.....again."
***Jamie just looks at him***
Jess:"what?"
Jay:"can we just go?"
Jess:"yeah come on boy."
***the drive to school was long but we got there***
Jamie:"hey there goes karter."
Jessie:"oh your little girlfriend?"
Jay:"she's not my girlfriend."
Jess:"not yet anyway."
Jay:"I'm just gonna leave now, your picking me up right?"
Jess:"nope. Your walking."
Jay:"what! Why?"
Jess:"I'm kidding get outta here kid."

Stacey:"I thought we weren't gonna be late today."
Me:"well you know. things change."
Stacey:"I guess so."
"Oh hey there's Jamie. Hey Jamie!"
***he turns around and walks toward us***
Jamie:"hey." He said with a smile
Me:"hey walk with me?"
Jamie:"yeah sure thing."
Stacey:"hey Jamie."
Jamie:"heyy Stacey."
Stacey:"I gotta go guys I'll see you at lunch."
Both of us say yea and continue to class
We get there and there's a sub
Both of us:"yes a sub."
We look at each other and smile.
Me:"so Jamie how long have you and your brother been alone?"
Jamie:"about six years."
"I'm sorry........about your mom."
Jamie:"it's fine. I still got Jessie."
"Is that your brother?"
Jamie:"yeah."
"How old he?"
Jamie:"he's uh 19."
"Oh."
Jamie:"what?"
"I just figured he would be a little bit older than that considering he's taking care of you."
Jamie:"nope he's not."
"So hey are you doing anything this weekend?"
Jamie:"nothing I know of yet, why?"
"Me and Stacey are going to hang out and I want you to be there."
Jamie:"really?"
"Yeah your one of us now."
Jamie:"yeah..yeah I'll be there."
***his mind exploded in happiness***
It's finally lunch and Jamie, Stacey and I go to our spot
Stacey:"hey guys."
Jamie/me:"hey."
Stacey:"it's really hot today isn't it?"
Jamie/me:"yea it is."
Stacey:"are you guys dating already?"
Jamie/me:"NO!"
Stacey:"then why are you guys talking at the same time?"
Jamie/me:"I don't know it'd just happening."
Stacey:"that's it I'm outta here."
Me:"Stacey don't."
Stac:"I'm just kidding dude chill."
**silence comes over everyone**
Jamie:"oh yeah. What were you guys planning for this weekend?"
Stacey:"what are you talking about?"
***awkward silence again***
Jamie:"oh just kidding I made plans with someone else sorry."
***did karter really invite me to hang out with her alone? ......but why?does she like me?.....she can't I just moved here.****
The bell rings and we're off to class.
All at once:"bye guys."
***the rest of the day goes by fast***
Jessie:"sup little jay."
Jay:"hey Jess."
There's a long pause. Jessie looks at Jamie
Jess:"what's goin on boy?"
Jay:"nothin let's just go."
Jess:"okay."
***the drive home was longer than the drive to school***
Jamie seems sad and he burst through the front door.
Jessie:"jay."
Jay:"I don't wanna talk."
Jamie rushes to his room and slams his bedroom door
Jessie:"come on jay. You only get like this when you talk about momma. Tell me what happened."
Jay:"I don't wanna."
By the sound of his voice Jessie knew his baby brother was crying and hurt.
An hour goes by and Jamie finally comes out of his room.
Jessie:"look who it is. The little princess is done with her tantrum."
Jamie:"shut up."
Both give a little chuckle
Jessie:"what is it brother?"
Jay:"what?"
Jessie:"why were you crying?"
Jay:"she was asking about mom and it just brought back memories."
Jess:"I know it's hard but I know how strong you are."
Jay:"yea I guess."
Jessie:"is that how your whole day went or did something good actually happen?"
Jay:"karter asked to hang out this weekend.....alone."
Jessie:"ahh you know what that means."
Jay:"that she wants to be my friend not my girlfriend."
Jess:"do you want to....hang out...alone?"
Jamie:"I don't know maybe."
Jess:"I think you should,maybe you'll have a good day."

Mom:"hey baby girl how was your day?"
"It was pretty good."
Mom:"oh yeah. What happened?"
"I asked Jamie to hang out this weekend."
Mom:"oh is she a new girl?"
"Mhm close but HE said he'll be happy to hang out."
Mom:"is he the boy you came home excited about?"
"Yes and he said he'll hang out with me I'm so happy!!"
Mom:"you shouldn't be worried about no little boys baby."
"I know mom but he's different, you'll see. it's gonna be a good day."
