Chapter 19

 I heard a low growl come from Derek as he started to push me behind him but I stayed put and glared at the man behind the bars, a man I thought I had put behind me. 

"What are you doing here Luke?"  I said quietly, my words laced with a venomous tone. 

"I just wanted to see you Kitten, no need to be angry."  He smiled again. 

"Actually there is a reason for me to be angry!"  I said my voice raising.  Derek tried to pull me back to him but I shrugged him off.  "What the hell do you think you are doing?!  Are you the one leaving the notes?"  I yelled.  Luke just chuckled and looked at me and then to Derek.

"Did you have fun shopping with Sammy?"  He asked.  I just looked at him angry.

"You always look so cute when you are mad,"  he shook his head, "My little kitten.  Remember when I used to call you that?"  I just stared at him and gritted my teeth. 

"Calla.. Who is this?"  Derek said.  I could hear the anger in his voice.  I looked at the ground and scrapped the toe of my shoe across the stone.

"My ex boyfriend."  I said kicking a pebble into a dark corner. 

"Your ex?! I thought you were a virgin?!"  I looked at him in shock. 

"I was!  I didn't have sex with him!  Don't be ridiculous! You knew that!"  Before I could continue Luke interrupted me.

"Trust me dude, I tried.  That's why we broke up actually." Derek snarled at him and pulled me to him.

"How long were you together?'  I shrugged. 

"Seven or eight months?  I don't know.  Not that long."

"Long enough for you to fall in love with me."  Luke said casually as he sat next to the wall and leaned against it.  Derek's head snapped to me. 

"and long enough for you to manage to break my heart."  I said crinkling my nose. "Plus, I wasn't really in love with you.  I thought I was.  Now I know better." I looked at Derek who was scowling at Luke who had an eyebrow raised. 

"hmmm I don't think you really understand darling.  I only did what I did to make you realize you did love me.  And that you wanted me of course."  He winked at me and I rolled my eyes.

"What did he do?"  Derek said looking at me with his jaw clenched. 

"He cheated on me... With my best friend..."  I paused looking at the ground then looked up at Derek.  He had his hands clenched at his sides.  I saw his eyes turning black. I took a step closer to him and reached out to hold his hand. 

"Yup, I definitely did.  Only because Calla wouldn't sleep with me. I had no choice.  I'm a man with needs and she wasn't meeting them.  It's her fault.  Although it was worth it.  Miranda was pretty dang good.  And made up for what you didn't."  He rested his hands behind his head.  I sighed exhausted.
