Chapter 27

I squinted against the bright light that was suddenly turned on. 

"Dad?  What the hell is happening?"  I groaned and finally sat up, pushing my palms against the cool fabric of my jeans.  I heard my dad chuckle. 

"Took your sweet time waking up."  I flinched away from him as he reached for my shoulder. 

"Don't touch me.  Justt tell me whats going on."  I grit my teeth together consumed by rage and fear.

"Where oh where shall I begin... Ah! I may as well let you know that you can't link with Derek at the moment.  Probably wont be able to do so for quite some time."

"Why am I here?"  

"You are a major part of the plan my dear. Obviously."  he sneered and started walking to the other side of the room.  He picked up a class full of amber colored liquid and chugged it.  I watched him closely as he stalked around the room, pacing back and forth as he stared right back.  

"How long has Dr. James been working for you?"  

"Since your mother and I knew we were going to have a baby girl.  This plan has been in place for many years.  In fact, it started with your birth.  You see I needed a daughter.  I owed... an old friend something.  He was trying to gain back what is rightfully his.  However, he is dead and now his son is ruling in his place."

"What the hell are you talking about?"  He shook his head at me.

"Always so impatient arent you?  Let me continue,"  he gave me a stern look, "Now, as I was saying, Have you heard anything about all of that pillar business?  Rivalry packs and all of that? Im sure you have, anyways, that pack is going to take what should be theirs.  And you are going to help."  I shook my head.

"No, no i'm-"

"You do not have a choice Calla."  he nodded to a guard in the corner who opened the one door in the room.  I watched as confusion as a hulking figure walked into the room.  He had dark hair and tanned skin, dark eyes and a chisled jaw covered in slight stubble.  He had a crooked and self assured smile showing off his straight white teeth.  Wearing a leather jacket and dark jeans he strode across the room with an air of confidence and pure danger.  

"Calla, meet your future mate Ryder Augustin."  I whipped my head to my father.

"Excuse me?"  

"You are to be mated to Ryder.  He will be able to care for you better than any other mate would.  YOu will be able to rule by his side once he takes over the DeVon territory, which consequently will then be Augustin territory.  You see this is the rule of the rival pack and he-"

"Enough"  Ryder held up a large hand at my father "You talk too much."  His voice was smooth but with a hind of grateyness that made his sound deadly and strong. "Remember, my father may have been friends with you, but I am not my father."  he turned his swirling dark gray eyes towards mine. "It is nice to finally meet you Calla."  He smiled.  I felt like I was about to panic. 

"Thats impossible,"  I said voicing my thoughts, "I'm already mated to Derek."  I heard Ryder growl low in his throat as he stepped forward.  I shrunk back as he grabbed my hand. 

"That can be undone, mate. Please do not worry.  You will be very happy with me, I promise."  His smile shone with intensity and dark lust.  I was definatley panicking now.  I started shaking my head.
