{{TWO WEEKS LATER}}

DAN'S POV:

Phil and I had uploaded another Sims video and I was editing a video I had made with Tyler Oakley.

We'd taken Clara to about three different youtuber parties and everyone LOVED her! She stayed with us at all times though, unless she was with Louise or Zoe who she had definitely taken a liking to.
They thought she was just adorable, so Phil and I could do a bit of awkward socializing while she was with them.

...

It was evening, and we had just finished some spaghetti.
Phil and I were watching 'My Neighbor Totoro' while Clara was in her room.

"Dan," Phil said, "Do you remember why Clara was in the orphanage?"

I looked at him with a blank face, "No, why? Does it say on the papers?"

"Probably. I just think we should know her past a little bit, you know?" He said.

I nodded and got the foster care papers. Sure enough there was a whole page on Clara's life before she got to the orphange:

CLARA BROWN

Clara was born on the 18 of July to Anna and Benjamin Brown in their home. She was 7 lb. 3oz. and 21 in.

Six months later, mrs. Brown was diagnosed with a brain Tumor and given a year to live. Mr. Brown refused to find work, so Mrs, Brown was forced to find a job, giving the task of raising her daughter to her husband.

Repeatedly Mrs. Brown came home to find her baby bruised or cut, but never told anyone. Mr. Brown claimed they were from Clara hitting her head, but Mrs. Brown suspected fowl play from her husband and after three weeks of this, called the police.

Unfortunately, the complaint never went through and Benjamin Brown didn't face any charges.

Soon, Mr. Brown began to abuse his wife as well, hitting and punching her until she bled, and then forcing her to go to work. Mrs. Brown also found out that her husband had begun selling and consuming drugs.

In June of that year, little Clara was a month from turning two, when her mother went into surgery and didn't come home, dying six months before she was supposed to.

Leaving Mr. Brown responsible for the baby, Clara was always suffering from one injury or another.

Mr. Brown became an alcoholic and drug addict, and quickly became known on the police radar. He stayed busy by running from the law with Clara, until he finally was arrested when Clara was three.

Clara Brown was enrolled in the GREENE LAKE INSTITUTE FOR ORPHAN CHILDREN and her father was taken to prison for drugs and child abuse.

"Wow." I said when I finished reading it to Phil.

"Poor, Clara!" Phil said.
