I've listened to mcr pretty much my whole life. My older brother really liked them and music like Fall out boy, Taking back sunday, Hawthorne Heights, etc. So pretty much all the emo bands associated with the "MySpace era." His what most people would call an emo phase lasted a couple years and then he moved on to a different style which was all about punk rock and thrash and doom metal. Which at the time I don't think I necessarily liked, but came to appreciate in the years ahead as I evolved just like him. Anyway, back to the MySpace era, the first song I heard by Mcr was I'm not okay (i promise). I really enjoyed the song and downloaded it onto my ipod. That song is an emo classic, one of mcr's first mainstream hits. I was in love, I found my favorite band.
