Kismet

She walked out of her hospital room doors and found Mulder sitting in the chair across from her. They both smiled at each other.

"You ready?" He asked her, getting up from the chair and taking her smaller hand into his bigger one.

She looked up at him, "yeah, I'm ready." They exited the hospital building hand in hand.

Driving home was filled with a comfortable silence until Scully spoke up. "Mulder, I meant to tell you, who was that girl from earlier?"

"Oh Diana? She's an old friend from my older job that I had. She was my coworker, but I don't know, she kept coming onto me and I tried everything I could to give her the message that I just wasn't interested. Fortunately, she left after a while." He quickly looked over to her to give her a reassuring look.

"Oh..." She quietly sighed in relief to herself.

"You okay?" He asked worriedly.

"Yeah yeah, I'm doing fine..." She huffed, "okay, I didn't tell you, but why I did what I did was because earlier the other day when Alex was home I kind of left your place a little late and he was up and he hit me. I know it's normal for him to do that, but I just felt like that was the last straw for me, and when I saw Diana with you I just lost it."

Mulder pulled over in the nearest parking lot. "Okay wait a minute. This is very very wrong. Him hitting you should not be normal. I don't care what it takes, but I'm gonna make him stop. It can't be that hard, really." She's nodded in agreement.

"Bu-"

"And second of all," he cut her off. "You know you're my number one gal. The Watson to my Sherlock. The jelly to my peanut butter."

She snorted. "You're a comedian."

"I know I am." He laughed, then grabbed her face with both of his hands and started to lean in. Scully's breath hitched and she closed her eyes. Just before he brushed his lips with hers, he told her, "whatever it takes." Then crashed their lips together in unison, forming a deep, passionate kiss.

They pulled away and stared into each other's eyes, smiling.

"Is this wrong?" She asked him. "Being married with him at the same time?"

"If he doesn't care about you enough to love you, which is surprising by the way, I mean look at you, then yeah, it's okay." She smiled up at him. "This was just kismet." He then started the car, pulled out of the parking lot, and drove off, both leaving with huge smiles plastered on their faces.
