It seemed like ages since the last time I walked on Yankee soil.
My eyes automatically read the New York Yankee's logo which laid on the cement just outside of Gate 4-- The same gate I ran out of on the day of mine and Jesse's wedding. It brought back bitter memories, but I couldn't help but laugh at how immature I was.
"Yankee Stadium..." Zacky sighed, throwing an arm over my shoulders, "I remember the last time we were here. I remember those gates."
"I also remember running out of here and if you don't stop taking a pretty little trip down memory-lane, I'll run out again. Did I make myself clear?"
He hissed, detaching himself from me. "New York brings out the real bitch in you, Jackie."
"I'm sorry. It's just there's so many bitter memories here and even though I'm over everything, I just feel bad because of what happened."
"There you all are!" My dad exited the building throwing his arms up in the air, "I've been waiting at the door for like forty minutes already. I thought you weren't going to come. I've reserved your suite and you're all just in time for some batting practice." He reached me and pecked my cheek, "You'll love the view. It's renovated, yet it still screams Yankees Stadium of '76. Where's Brian and Sophia?"
I turned and pointed to the gang who were currently video-taping Sophia being held up by Brian, walking in her new Yankee's attire that my dad gave her. "Being a celebrity at the moment."
He chuckled, "She is so cute. Okay, I have your tickets and your food-passes. Alcohol and beverages are on me and the team. They're excited to see you, sweetie. When they heard you were coming, they nearly shit themselves." He said handing us the tickets.
"The team knows I'm coming?!"
"Of course. I've been gloating about it since yesterday's game. Don't worry though. They promise to keep their distance."
"Good cause you know the drama between Jesse and Brian. I want to enjoy my last day in New York and leave on a good note."
"You haven't a thing to worry about, swee-"
"Mark Baker, you're needed in the visitor's dug out. Over and out." A groggy voice coming from the radio said.
My dad squeezed his eyes shut, "Shit. I have to go. C'mon in and make yourselves at home. You know how to get to the suites, sweetie. I better leave before drama starts on my side of the field. See you guys in a few."
I was still a bit worried about Jesse knowing I was going to be at the game with Brian. The last thing I wanted was there to be a bit of friction between the two. Bringing two men with big egos together under the same sky, isn't the smartest idea.
"Oh crap." Zacky said looking at one of the tickets.
"What?"
He bit his lip and raised the ticket to my eye level. "They're playing the Dodgers... Not only is Jesse there but so is Andrew. The same Andrew who ruined everything for you and Brian. The same Andrew-"
I gasped, taking the ticket from his hand. "Oh no, no, no. We can't go to this game. Not Brian and definitely not me. I can't. Oh my God. Zacky. What am I going to do? He can't see Andr-"
Suddenly, Brian's arms wrapped around my waist, swaying me back and fourth. I quickly flipped the ticket over, hiding it from Brian.
"Let's skip the game and let me make a home run back home, yeah?" He whispered in my ear.
