"Hey Demi, Joe's upstairs in his room." Nick told his old friend.
"Thanks, Nick." She smiled, gave him a quick hug and went upstairs. She heard Joe singing down the hall.
"I'm in a session writing tracks; you've got another class to teach and in rehearsal with the band you're always one step out of reach..." Demi suppressed a smile from the memory of that song as she walked towards his room. "...you help me find the right key." At the door of his bedroom, Demi leaned against the frame and sang the old harmony at the same time Joe sang his melody. "And if I hear you on the radio." He looked up at her in surprise, but a grin filled his face and he kept playing guitar and singing. "I wouldn't wanna change a single note. It's what I'm trying to say all along, you're my favorite song."
"My favorite song," Joe added. "Oh and when I hear you on the radio," Demi joined in with him in harmony once again, making her way to a spot next to him. "I'd never wanna change a single note. It's what I'm trying to say all along, you're my favorite song."
"You're my favorite song." Demi looked at him smiling.
"You're my favorite...song." He sang strumming the last chord once. She gave him a signature smile. "Hey Dems, what brings you here?"
She shrugged. "I felt like visiting my best friend. You're not busy, are you?"
"Well, who would visit me at seven in the morning?" he teased.
"Me, of course!" Demi laughed.
"I was just singing a little right now. Wanna come with me on set? I'm working on a new movie. I'm lead, too."
"You sure? It would be totally cool with everyone?" Demi asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, of course! Demi, I went on your set without asking." He nudged her.
She laughed. "But that was okay back then because you were my boyfriend."
"Demi, relax. It's fine." He put his guitar down and got up. "Now let's go." He extended his hand up to her. She took her hand and stood. Together, they went to the set of Joe's movie.
"Hey, everyone!" Joe said walking onto set with Demi. "This is my friend, Demi Lovato."
"Hi," she said, giving a slightly shy smile.
"Hey," the director said, walking over. "You come to watch your old friend goof off on set?"
Demi laughed, raising an eyebrow in Joe's direction. "You haven't changed much, have you?"
He shook his head, proud. "Nope." He looked at his director. "So it's cool of she stays?"
"Yeah totally," she said. "We'll start filming in a few. Go ahead and show Demi around."
"All right," he said, taking Demi around and introducing her to everyone. "And last, but most definitely not least, this is the female lead of the movie, Miss Lily Collins."
"Hey!" Lily greeted Demi. "Demi, I love your music."
"Thanks," Demi smiled. "You're a great actress."
"Thank you," Lily said.
"Joe, Lilly! We're about to start filming!" the director yelled.
Joe looked at Demi. "You're cool with watching, right?"
"Totally, it's all good."
"All right, see you in between," he gave her a smile and ran off.
"He is SO cute," Lily murmured. "How does a guy like that stay single?"
Demi turned to her, raising an eyebrow. "You like Joe?"
Lily jumped, "You heard that?"
Demi laughed and nodded. "I don't blame you for thinking that."
"Then why aren't you with him? I know you have a lot of history together."
"I actually have a boyfriend right now, and Joe and I both agreed it's better if we're just friends."
"Oh," she said nodding. "Well, I should get going. Talk later?"
"Sure," she smiled watching Lily walk off. She could hook them up.
"Hey, Joe," Demi said in between takes. "My manager called, I have a last minute meeting to get to."
"Oh, no problem. I'm glad you came, and you had fun," he said smiling.
"All right, I'll text you?"
"Sure," he said as he gave her a hug.
"Bye Lily, great meeting you," Demi said to Lily.
"You too, Demi. Call me so we can make plans, okay?" Lily also gave Demi a hug.
"Will do," she said and waited for Sterling outside. Now Sterling didn't mind being in public with Demi. They had actually gotten to go have dinner out, and the most they got was friends hanging out.
"So you and Demi hit it off, huh?" Joe asked Lily.
"Yeah, she's so sweet." Lily answered.
"Crap, who's giving her a ride to the studio?" Joe asked as he started to walk after Demi.
"Joe, you don't need to," Lily followed him. "Her boyfriend probably is picking her up."
Joe stopped walking, his posture was now a slight slouch. "Oh, right."
As if on cue, Sterling pulled up in his car. "See?" Lily said. "Oh, so Sterling's her boyfriend."
"Yeah...Sterling. We should get back to work." Before she could question him, Joe walked back to the director.
