josh's house is inviting. that's all i can really say about it because it's like any other house that holds a family. there are picture frames on the walls and shoes by the door that you're likely to trip on and a scented candle in the hall way between the front door and main living space.

"i didn't actually think you'd come over," josh says. he looks different today, or maybe it's because i'm seeing him as he is at home without any eyes on him. disheveled and tired and more easy going than usual.

"i said i would, didn't i?"

"yeah. it's just you're slightly unpredictable."

"really?"

"yeah. quiet people usual are."

"oh," i pause, then add, "do i owe you another soda for knowing that?"

"nah. you're off the hook this time kid."
