"Welcome to Ocloments Island!" Nate said enthusiastic as we exited the boat on to land.
"You good Crasher?" Sam asked as I exited the boat trying to balance my self. I looked at him with an annoyed expression.
"Don't call me Crasher, my name is Bryllee. And yea, I just don't like boats," I said with a tone at first but calmed down afterwards. He nodded and apologized.
The boys got all the gear off the ship and handed me a grappling hook, more ammunition, and an AK 47. I knew not to ask about certain weapons I was given while doing this job because that's just how these things work. You get the dangerous job and with that, the dangerous guns. Searching for treasure is a lot more dangerous than anyone would think it is. Considering there are many people that would be interested in a pile of loot worth $32 million, so there are gonna be people that don't want us here and are gonna do anything to keep us away.
"So where exactly do we think the treasure is at?" I asked looking around at the island. It was lush and green, humid air, and soft mossy ground. Pretty place for a vacation.
"Honestly Crash- I mean Bryllee, did you do any of your research?" Sam asked with an attitude in his voice. I scoffed.
"Obviously I didn't have time, I was told at the last minute about this, and I didn't have years in prison to read and figure out this crap," I said backing my self up. Sam rolled his eyes and walked away.
"What's his problem this morning?" I asked Nate who was getting his gun situated onto his back.
"Who? Sam?" he asked. I nodded and he looked at his brother. "No clue."
"Well his pissy mood and just gonna put me in my own pissy mood," I said walking away.
"We're going to be looking for a cave I think," Nate said handing me a piece of old parchment with a cliff side with a hole in it.
"Ok then, a weird looking cliff side shouldn't be that hard to find. Let's go find that treasure," I said putting the paper in my pocket and clapping my hands together. Nate led the way and we were off in our treasure hunting journey!
"Sorry for being a dick back there," Sam said spooking me from behind.
"It's fine-" I began but stopped as we came to a huge ravine. "Oh crap. I'm used to using the grappling hook, but this, this is a deep ravine and it's a far ways to swing."
It looked as if there was once a bridge connecting the sides of the ravine, but sadly, we're a few years too late to use it. However, looking closer, it looks as if it was just recently destroyed.
"Scared Bryllee?" Nate teased. I smirked.
"You wish!" I laughed. "But is sure is convenient that there's a broken bridge across, and it doesn't look like it broke too long ago."
"Looks like we aren't the first to get here," Sully said. We all agreed. And began crossing the ravine.
"By all means, ladies first," Nate said pointing to the other side.
"Why? Want me to fall to my death first?" I asked giving him a glare. He laughed and shook his head. I went first anyways.
I threw the hook to the other side hoping it would latch onto a rock that up lifted. To my luck, it did. My grappling hook skills are definitely a lot better now then they were 20 years ago. I jumped off and quickly began to swing towards the edge of the other side. i quickly put my feet in front of my so the impact wouldn't be bad. Then, I climbed up. Once I was up and moved out of the way, Sully followed, then Sam. Nate went last, he was already off the cliff when the rock began to loosen and soon came out from the earth.
"LET GO NOW, NATE!" I yelled leaning at the edge so I could grab his arm. He let go and I grabbed his hand. Sam came over and helped me pull him up.
"Thanks Bryllee," Nate said looking down into the ravine.
"And what about me? If I wasn't there she would have dropped you!" Sam said offended. I put a hand in his shoulder and thanked him. He scoffed and I laughed.
We began walking again, I was in the front this time. I wasn't exactly paying any attention to what was in front of me, I was to worried about my company, but luckily Sam grabbed my hand and pulled me back and behind a bush covering my mouth. I struggled breaking free but he put his finger to my lips and pointed to across a small field. Crates, trucks, and men with loaded weapons were scattered across the field. I began to read the word on the side of the trucks quietly but out loud.
"Arctineer?" I asked.
"Yea, probably not friendly," Sam suggested. I looked at him.
"Nooooo, those crates have beer, cake and food and they're gonna throw a party for us," I said sarcastically rolling my eyes.
"So, what's the plan?" Sully asked.
"Well we either take them down with stealth, or we do it the dirty way," I said smirking.
"I like option B," Sam said grabbing his gun from his back. Nate agreed and we began getting a little closer.
Sam was the first to start shooting. Not a surprise. We got lucky that there weren't a lot of people. But one by one, we took out each unwanted person while having bullets coming our way as well. I got up from crouching after everyone was taken out.
"Not bad with a gun," Sam said patting my back.
"I've been doing this a lot longer than you have," I told him. He turned his head while leading the way and smiled and winked at me. I shook my head and kept walking.
After walking for a good ten minutes Nate signaled us to stop.
"Bryllee let me see that piece of paper," Nate said with his hand out. I took the picture out of my pocket and gave it to him. He unfolded it and looked over it. "This is the cliff, but there's one problem."
Nate handed the paper to Sam. I put a hand on his back and looked over his shoulder. It definitely was the cliff, and there definitely was a problem.
"This is the cliff," I said. Sam looked at me and I looked at him and we both said the same thing at the same time, "but there's no cave." Sully looked at the map and then the cliff.
"It's just a carving," Sully said. Nate nodded. I looked at the cliff and began to study it. It wasn't an ordinary carving, but no carving is ordinary. But this one was special.
"It's a map," I said looking at them. They all looked at it.
"How? And of what?" Nate asked.
"Do you know what it's a map of?" Sam asked me. I nodded.
"Panama," I said grabbing the canteen on Nate's belt.
"Hey," Sully said as I opened it and took a drink.
"Hi," i said as I handed it back. He took a drink and put it back on his belt.
"Well then, looks like we're going back to Panama" Sully said patting Sam on the back.
