"Wait Noves slow down? Because all I'm hearing is that I need to come to the city and beat somebody's ass!" Mel shouted on the other end of the phone

I laughed "No Mel, It's fine this is what I get for catching feelings for a stranger—I think I'm gonna call it a night."

"You need me to come get you?"

"Thanks for the offer but I really just need some time alone."

"Okay, be safe."

"I will I'll talk to you later Mel."

"Okay."

I removed the phone away from my ear

and just as I was about to end the call

I heard Melanie's voice on the other line

"WAIT!"

I placed the phone back to my ear "Yes?"

"You didn't um go with him just to prove a point to me did you?"

"What are you talking about?" I asked wiping away a tear that had fallen from my eye

"You know what I said earlier about you never leaving the house were you trying to prove something to me?"

"No."

"Oh okay..just making sure."

"Yeah but if I did I would've let you kn-"

"Nova?"

I looked up and Shawn stood in front of me his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his black jeans "can we talk?"
