Chapter 5

The next few weeks droned on. Christine became better friends with Luna and Kamile. Christine could care less about the TriWizard Tournament. The champions were selected and their first task was set in a week, November 24th.

Christine also developed a better friendship with Seamus. Whenever she woke up every morning, he'd always be there to say "Top 'o the mornin'" in his accent.

This morning, she woke up and Seamus wasn't there to be his regular goofy self. Instead, there was a note on the coffee table in front of the couch. Christine sat up and picked up the note. It read:

Dear Christine,

This is your secret admire. I love you more than I can possibly say. Please meet me at the edge of the Dark Lake as soon as you can.

Secret

Christine read it and smiled. She then ran out of the common room and out to the lake. She wondered who it could be. She waited by the lake and waited there.

She waited for a couple minutes. Then ten minutes went by.

Twenty.

Thirty.

Christine waited there for him to come. She then went up to the lake and looked down into the water.

"She's here!" someone shouted.

Christine turned around, and before she could even react, Katie Bell and Alicia Spinnet pushed her into the Black Lake. Christine stood up in the lake and looked down at her sopping wet clothes. She then looked up at Alicia and Katie who were laughing their heads off.

Christine tried to shake all her water out. She then turned into a fox and tried to shake the water out from that. Turning into a fox made Alicia and Katie run back to the castle. Christine then ran up to the top of the hill that overlooked the lake. She changed back and looked down.

She kept looking down getting prepared to jump. She couldn't take getting teased everyday, she couldn't take being in Slytherin, she couldn't take anything! She just needed to escape this world and never return.

Christine closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Wait!" someone called out.

Christine turned around and saw a wimpy looking boy standing there holding a plant. "Don't jump," he told her. "It's not worth it."

Christine looked at him with tears in her eyes. "How do you know?" she asked.

"Because I know what it feels like to get teased," he told her. "I was actually going to jump last year, but I didn't. Now people like me, I think."

"Why didn't you jump?" she asked. "I'm sure it would've made life easy for you."

The boy shook his head. "No it wouldn't of," he argued. "I didn't jump because I thought about what I'd loose if I did jump. I'd loose my friends, my grandma, and my future."

"At least you have friends," Christine told him. "I don't even have acquaintances. Just haters. Besides from Kamile and Luna."

"See?" he asked. "You have friends. And what would they do if they lost you?"

Christine shrugged. "Probably move on with their lives," she answered.

"Just promise me you won't jump," he told her. He then held out his free hand while holding the plant with the other.

Christine looked at it. She then grabbed it, and the boy gently led her back into the castle. "Professor Sprout wanted me to bring this plant to her, so you can come with me," he suggested.

"Okay," she said.

He then slowly led her to the greenhouses. They went inside whilst there was a class. The boy went over to Professor Sprout and gave her the plant.

"Thank you, Neville," she thanked him.

"No problem, Professor," he replied.

He then led the way out of the greenhouse. "Your name is Neville?" Christine asked.

"Yes," he replied. "You're Ron's sister, right?"

"Not Ginny," Christine told him. "The... different one."

Neville took Christine back inside the castle. "You're a fourth year Slytherin?" he asked.

Christine nodded. "Well, right now we are in first period, and we have Potions together," he told her. "Professor Snape will kill us."

"Actually, Professor Snape really likes me," she said. "So he won't yell at me.

They arrived at the class half way in progress. "Ms. Weasley and Mr. Longbottom," he said sternly as they walked into class. "What are you doing here in my class so late?"

"I had to give something to Professor Sprout," Neville responded. "And I asked if Christine wanted to come too."

"For your tardiness and distracting other students, ten points will be taken off of Gryffindor," Professor Snape sneered. He then looked at Christine. "As for you, try not to let this imbecile get in your way."

Christine nodded and proceeded to her seat next to Seamus. She then continued on with her day.... until that night.
