The Musical Silence

In some unknown kingdom, music was prohibited. Any sort of music: rhythmical clapping, finger clicking, instrument playing, humming or singing. Although it was prohibited, a lone soul was stirring up village after village.

A young woman was travelling all over the kingdom, playing beautiful music on her polished violin. She would play a lively tune and dance gracefully with bare feet. The villagers were often weary of paying her any attention but would slowly start to clap along joyfully, same even joining in the dance.

This continued until one day, a group of soldiers stormed into a village, arresting the poor woman. She was taken to the royal city and forced to kneel before the king. He explained how it was illegal to play music and that she would be executed. The woman panicked, causing the king to allow her to play once more to decide her fate.

A guard brought in her violin and bow, which she tuned before starting a gentle melody. As she grew calmer, her song got faster. By now, she was playing a lively song as her feet carried her across the throne room's marble floor, her blue gown flaring out around her. Once she had finished, she was smiling as her chest rose and fell with heavy breaths.

His laughter rumbled from deep inside his belly. It caught everyone by surprise. The king was torn between executing her or setting her free, so his eldest son made the decision for him: he would marry her as somewhat of a confinement.

Music was brought back to the kingdom through the woman's bravery and the melodies of jubilation now echo throughout the kingdom with our heroine still dancing and playing her lively song.

This time we had to pick a topic and I chose: "His laughter rumbled from deep inside his belly."
