I guess I should have told you before that we were adopted.

I knew that we were adopted all along. I had overheard them talking to the kind old lady we used to go to every month.

Mrs. Farring was our social worker.

When you ran away that night, Mom and Dad were distraught.

They were clueless to as where you would be.

They tried looking for you everywhere.

I got a phone call from them every other minute. They asked me where you frequented, where your friends lived. Your phone was switched off.

Until a phone call didn't come. I had a gut feeling that something was wrong, but I suppressed it.

I was hoping that they had found you, and were having a teary reunion on some dim sideway street.
