i have committed a grave sin
the angels weep and mourn
at the fallen one.
i picked the ripest mango
straight out of eve's garden
and bit into it
honey and nectar bled from my lips
and with it
beetles and 'roaches came
crawling out of my mouth
each being the quintessence
of a transgression
anticipating to be
divulged.
temptation is a sin;
learn to tell
all the daughters and sons
of the earth
to stay away
from the forbidden fruit.
water their seeds
so that they may flourish and bloom
and don't forget
to warn them of the snakes.
hereby, i confess my sins.
mangoes. -(c.i)
haii. this is my first poem, out of ten, and this one speaks a lot to me. in my opinion, i am a big sinner, as you'll come to see further on in this book.
fun fact of the day: mangoes are my all time favourite fruit. i feel like people must have really misjudged the bible passage on the forbidden fruit, because it is a tale of temptation, and apples are nowhere near as tempting as mangoes. like, i swear, they are the fruit of the gods.
