"to serve and protect!"

correct?

i've never heard

such utter bullshit.

as long as black paves

the pathways of my skin

i will fall asleep

with a bullet to my head.

but in my dreams,

my protests are not in vain:

i drip poison on their lips;

all they taste is that honey.

venom is laced with my every word;

they can't handle the truth.

it's a silent killer,

a placebo to the disease:

infected with racism.

we pray they be cured

for no one is not born racist,

but only brought up as such.

but it runs in their blood,

came from their roots,

embedded in the soil.

they plant the seeds,

the shoots begin to sprout,

flowers start to bloom.

they see a garden,

i see an inferno.

hellbent on my agony —

hell indeed.

brown,

sweet,

thick,

slowly oozing nectar;

drink of the gods,

chosen by Dio Himself.

they can't stomach it,

their thirst is unquenchable.

seeking salvation;

deliverance to their sins.

caucasian, mongoloid and negroid children

will one day join hands

despite their colours or what they believe in,

who they love or how full their pockets are,

whether they be 'pink' or 'blue';

we still fail to see this beauty,

as if our visions are obscured

by some ungodly light.

can't we see that

melanin is just a pigment?

haii. incase this wasn't so clear, this poem is about police brutality and white privilege. i put all of my heart into this one. i can't describe it.

fun fact of the day: yes, i am black. yes, i am proud. 100% unapologetic.
