A Strategy for Mischief

Chapter 20: Riley's P.O.V

I was waiting outside my DADA lesson, talking to Lou quietly about our prank, when it happened. Matt walked up to me, his cheeks a darker colour than normal, holding something behind his back.

"Err hey Riley."

"Hi Matt. Is everything okay?" He rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand, the other one still behind his back.

"Yeah err, say erm, you wouldn't happen to have a date to the H-halloween ball by any chance already?"

I raised an eyebrow wondering whether this was going in the direction I thought it was. "No I don't."

He visibly relaxed and pulled his hand out from behind his back, a bouquet of violets in his hands. My eyes widened, how in the world did he know my favorite flowers were violets? I turned to look at Lou, just catching her winking at Matt. Oh so that's how.

"Erm I got these for you and well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the ball with me?"

I felt my face grow hot, and I shot a quick glare at Lou, before hesitantly taking the flowers off him. I smiled at him, looking up through my brown and purple locks that had fallen in front of my face.

"I'll go to the ball with you." Confident me breaking back through the shy one. I turned to Lou placing the flowers in her hands before turning back to Matt and pulling him closer to me and placing a quick kiss on his cheek. And with that I walked into the classroom, taking my seat with Lou next to me, having sent the flowers up to my dorm already.

I let out a deep breath, taking my wand out of my pocket, waiting for Riva to enter the classroom. All we needed to happen was for someone to say the name of a object I had already performed a charm on that would make it float once it's name was called.

The first object to levitate was quite simply one of Professor Riva's spare quills, though it was made funnier because as she went to reach for it it started to float causing a surprised squeal to escape her mouth. A few students laughed, James' laugh being the loudest. This was going to be fun.

"Mr Potter please stop laughing."

As James went to reply, I performed the 'Wingardium Leviosa' Charm silently and with a 'swish, flick' of my wand his body slowly began to rise. At first he didn't notice he was floating but when he did well, it was as funny as I thought it would be.

He screeched and grabbed at the air still floating upwards. Then with a desperate look at Lou, he said "Lou hellllppp!"

The look on Lou's face almost made me burst with laughter. Sorry Lou, but it's gonna happen. Slowly Lou started to rise out of her seat, quickly grabbing onto my robes to keep her from floating any higher.

"Ohh I'm going to hit you as soon as I get down." She whispered so only I could hear and finally let go.

"Students please hold onto your desks or chairs incase anyone else decides to float."

I smiled, well there we go, she did it. First to levitate was poor Michelle Williams' desk, the poor girl was scared out of her wits, and her desk soon followed by a Hufflepuff's chair with him still on it. I decided to put on a bit of a show and made Professor Riva's coffee levitate out of its cup before bringing the cup up to meet it.

Realising that if I left Lou up in the air too long she would murder me more than she would do normally. So I brought everything down, but that wasn't my fun over. After everything had settled down and the class had actually started, I started to levitate things again, mainly objects but a few students, over the rest of the lesson, even getting Lou to levitate me at one point. What? I couldn't let everyone have all the fun.

Riva dismissed us early as I think seeing students floating in her class could really make one question their sanity. As Lou and I walked out of sight of the other students, we gave each other a high five.

"That was pretty fun."

I smiled at my sister. "Yes. Yes it was and I guess that 4 pranks down. Only dinner tomorrow to go and talking of dinner I'm hungry so let's get going."

Grabbing her hand, I started pulling her down towards the Great Hall.
