You can tell who is in control of Garnet if you look at her glasses. Almost all the time, there are 2 colors. If there is more pink/red (depends on the sunlight), Ruby has more control (usually when she's angry).
When they are more blue/White (depends on the sunlight), sapphire has more control (usually when she is content, happy, etc).
