In the episode "Too Far", amethyst says, "Your a real gem" and then Peridot responds, "Yes I am.... A gem."
I did some research on what a fake Peridot would be. It's called a cubic Zirconia. It looks just like a real Peridot, but it's man-made.

This would also be the reason for her limb enhancers and technology. She can't do the things a normal gem can do. She is not a normal gem. She herself, is defective. That's why she says she's no better than the others who are a "Permafusion, an overlooked runt, and a defective pearl in "Too far"
