Chapter Six: Leaving

Demi's Point of View

It has been two days since Skyler was brought to the hospital. Finally, Sky and I can leave this place. Since Sky didn't have any clothes to wear other than her bear onesie, I had Dallas go buy her some clothes, shoes, and pull-ups and bring me some clothes too. I also had her smuggle in some Wendy's because you know, hospital food is gross!

During these past two days, Sky and I have gotten closer. She is starting to talk more, which is great. Not full sentences, but words like 'Demi' or 'thank you'. It's so adorable the way Sky mispronounces 'thank you'.

Right now, I am getting myself ready to leave in the bathroom. I throw on a pair of ripped black jeans, a gray tunic, and black high heels. I also put on my gold crescent moon necklace.

I exit the bathroom and almost trip over something

I exit the bathroom and almost trip over something. I look down to see Sky crawling on the floor, playing with Stuffy. Sky is wearing a black shirt with heart print sleeves, a pink skirt, rainbow stripped tights, and black Uggs.

She looks up at me with her gorgeous dark blue eyes and gives me a warm smile, showing all twenty of her milk white baby teeth

She looks up at me with her gorgeous dark blue eyes and gives me a warm smile, showing all twenty of her milk white baby teeth. This absolutely melts my heart. I return her smile and bend down, lifting her into my arms.

"Hey there, cutie." I giggle. "You ready to get out of here?" Sky nods and rests her head on my shoulder. I smile fondly and turn my head, giving Sky a quick little peck on her cheek.

I double check my bag, making sure I have all of my and Sky's belongings. I sling my bag over my shoulder and go downstairs to the lobby, where I sign the discharge papers. My mom is waiting for us outside. Thank God she still has Maddie's old car seat.

I walk outside to my mom's car. "Hey mom." I greet her. Mom smiles back. "Hello to you too. Do you need any help with the car seat?"

I shake my head. "I'm sure I can manage it. I open the back door and set Sky in the seat, strapping her seat belts. Unlike Maddie, Sky sits perfectly still, like a good girl while I strap her in. I remember it taking anywhere from ten minutes to a half hour to get Maddie into her car seat. She hated it.
