Let's start with numbers.
Numbers will be important in this book.Ichi-one
Ni-two
San-three
Yon-four
Go-five
Roku-six
Nana-seven
Hachi-eight
Kyuu-nine
Juu-tenFor the teens, you say "ten" "number"
So, if you want to say eighteen, you would say, "Juu Hachi"For the tens, you would do the same. Twenty would be "Ni Juu", so twenty four would be "Ni Juu Yon"
Same goes for thirties, forties, fifties, etc.One hundred is hyaku. Two hundred is ni hyaku. This continues as is. However, three hundred would be said san byaku, six hundred would be roppyaku, and eight hundred would be happyaku.
Sen is thousand. Just as with the tens, you say "number" "thousand". One thousand would be issen. Three thousand is san zen, never san sen. Eight thousand is hassen, never hachi sen. All the others apply to the original rule.
If you want to say your age, you would say "number" sai. I'm fifteen, so I would say "Watashi wa Juu Go sai desu." Or, "I am fifteen years old."
Let's say someone is ten, they would not say juu sai desu. They would say jussai desu.
If you are thirty, you would say san jussai. Forty would be yon jussai. And so on.
