Metal against metal was all she heard when she woke. Whatever contraption she was in swayed which caused her to feel nauseous. She attempted to stand up but fell down when a lurching shudder shook the floor beneath her. She huddled in a corner of the room, terrified of her surroundings.

Her baby blue eyes soon adjusted to the darkness. She was able to make out the outline of boxes and cages containing animals. The room continued to jerk upwards like an old lift in a mine shaft.

Questions filled her mind. She didn't know where she came from, who or where her family was, what had happened before she woke.

My name... it's A—Amelia. That's it, that's my name. Amelia was glad that she was able to remember something but everything else was still blurred.

What Amelia assumed was a box continued to ascend. Minutes seemed like hours then the box halted. The sudden change jolted her from her position and threw her across the hard floor. The floor seemed to sway less and less until it stilled. She stood up, hitting her head on the low ceiling as she did so. She groaned, putting her hand on the spot of the injury. She began to crouch, not wanting to repeat her actions.

"Someone ... get ... me .. the fuck out of here!" she screamed. She continued to scream at the top of her lungs and shout for help, but it left an echo. After a few minutes of shouting and hitting the ceiling with her arms, a loud alarm blared, forcing her to cover her ears.

Amelia watched as double sliding doors forced open. A straight line of light appeared across the room.
