"Hey Rob!"

"Hey Lachy."

"What are you doing right about now?"

"Homework? Why?"

"Um do you wanna come over? I need to show you something. Um it's pretty important."

"Sure I'll be over in 5"

"Rob. 5 minutes or 5 hours?"

"Haha very funny I'll be over in 5 MINUTES."

"Happy that's cleared up! :D"

"You're such a jerk, you're lucky I'm a bigger one XD."

"Mate. Get Over Here!"

"On my way ;)"

I snickered,

Typical Rob.

I rolled my eyes and shifted on my bed,

A burst of pain shot out from my back,

"GOD DAMMIT!"

I'll have to get used to having them out,

I rubbed my back, were the skin and feathers met, grinding my teeth together to try to make the pain ease,

Mum was right. It does make it worse when I tied them,

I snapped back into reality when I heard Rob outside talking to my mum,

"Hey Mrs.Power how are you today?"

"I'm good. Rob how are you?"

"Also good! Is Lachlan here?"

"I believe he's in his room, do you want to go up?"

"Ok, sure, thank you!"

I jumped up from my bed making a dash for the door, as I started to hear footsteps making their way upstairs,

I quickly slammed my body into the door,

"Ouch" I whispered quietly to myself,

"Hello? Lachlan?"

"Yep in here!"

"Cool Cool bro open the door."

"Um......you know I can't exactly open the door.."

I nervously laughed,

"Are you sure?"

"Yep!"

I started slapping my forehead,

"Stupid Stupid!" I slapped myself more,

"Wait what?"

"Oh it's nothing, how was school?"

"It was ok....what did you want to show me?"

"Oh it doesn't matter."

"You sure? You sounded worried."

"I'm fineeeeee."

I heard a thump on the door,

"You're hiding something, you drag words out when you are lying."

"NO I DON'TTT"

"Lachlan. Let me in!"

"NOOOO!"

"I'll get you're mum, you're not ok!"

"NO PLEASE DON'T!"

I heard the gradual footsteps go down,

Why did I think I could do this?

I'm so stupid!

Two people came rushing up the stairs,

"Lachy, what's wrong?"

"Nothing mum it's all fineeee."

"He only does that when he's nervous. Rob what's wrong?"

"HE WON'T LET ME IN!"

"Lachlan. Please let us in."

"I can't. I can't do it."

"Lachy. Listen to me, the first way to feel comfortable is with acceptance, Rob is your best friend you can decide to be scared or feel comfortable it's your choice honey."

I looked down at the floor,

I can be scared all my life or accept it, there's no more running away, I've tried my whole life, I need to stop living in fear and accept that I am different, and that its ok to be that way.

I slowly dropped away from the door,

And sighed,

"Ok. Come in when you want."

I took deep breaths,

"Rob, he's told you about his differences hasn't he?"

"Yes he has."

"He's never shown you before has he?"

"No. Did he ever shown you."

"Only up until he was in Year 3. Then he covered them up everywhere he went, even at home."

"So. Can I go in?"

"If you want."

"Ok then."

I looked toward the slowly opening door, probably about to pass out for how much anxiety I was having at this moment in time,

I just hope he's ok with seeing the real me.
