Brooke and I dashed out towards our team. The whole team was gathered in a circle crouching. Ben was in the middle of the group, while Dom was beside him.

“Okay team, we don’t have a lot of time to spare here, but there’s been an attack. The Red team has started to attack us. The only way we can beat them at this point without being caught, is to flank them, and to approach as an offensive team. Everyone will be either flanking them from the right or left side of the field. Hand picked players will be with Dominick and I to lead an offensive approach, is that clear?”

A swarm of heads nodded in agreement. Ben was going to handpick his best players to go with him, leading the team out in the open. I hope he will pick me, after all I think I’m a relatively good player. A lot better than the new recruits that came in only a week ago. I was confident he would choose me.

“Harry, Ryan, Wesley, Nick, and Tyler, you guys are with Dom and I. Everyone else, even yourselves out and flank them.”

I can’t believe he didn’t pick me! Not only was I his sister, but I was one of the best players! I was about to march right up to him, but his team already was on the move.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. “Relax, let’s just get this over with, it’ll be fun!” Brooke says enthusiastically. I was not in the mood to share her enthusiasm, but as fast as this gets over with, the faster I can confront Ben. I mean, he picked Tyler as one of his team members. Tyler was a new recruit who came in only a week ago! What is this?

“Let’s go!” Brooke says. She leads me towards the right flank, and we scouted ahead. Our boots crunched under the leaves, but we try to keep it quiet. I motion for Brooke to crouch behind a big tree trunk.

                “You see anything?” I ask.

“Nothing, its dead, are you sure there’s an attack today?” Brooke whispers.

“That’s what Dominick said.” I say, wondering if Dominick was lying or not.

“Well there’s nobody out here! Let’s go back?” She asks me. I was about to agree with her, but something feels off.

“Wait, something doesn’t feel right. I heard shots earlier.” I say, scanning the forest.

                “You heard shots? When?”

“When Dom came over. In fact, they were all over the field!”

“Are you serious? They couldn’t have retaliated that fast!” Brooke exclaims, beginning to stand up.

“Brooke, are you crazy? Don’t stand up, you could get shot – “But before I could yank her back down, a fast and sharp paint splatter shot her in the shoulder. She fell down fast. I rushed to her side.

                “Are you okay?” I ask.

“Yeah, I’m fine. That was a close call, eh?”

“Yeah, too close.” I say. Before she stood up though, I spot something weird.

Sensing my hesitation, Brooke looks at me quizzically. “What is it?”

“The person who shot you… is not from the Red team.” I point towards the paint shot. She looks down to her shoulder. “They’re from the Green team.”
