Backstory: Ben's parents died when he was young, so he lived with his grandfather. At school, kids made fun of his name(s) and eventually they even went to racism. Ben thought he could endure it with his grandfather at his side—they were very close—but one day, when Ben was thirteen, his grandfather died from lung cancer since he had smoked nearly all his life. Having no other family, Ben was put into the system, where he decided to pull out a new slate. He told people to call him Ben, he transferred to another school even though it was further, and et cetera.
