Kelsey fiddled with the zip on her jacket while anxiously waiting for either Skye to wake up or Tom to return. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed. Kelsey often felt second best to Nathan. Of course, she loved Tom to pieces but it seemed as though his life was about protecting Nathan from whatever trouble he managed to wrap himself up in. When Skye had come along Kelsey thought things would finally balance out. Nathan had Skye now and Tom would pay more attention to Kelsey. But nothing like this had ever happened while she'd been with Tom. Kelsey had assumed that some drug lord had done this to Skye...or maybe even Nathan. She pushed the thought to the back of her mind but she knew that Nathan was dangerous when he snapped. He had a short temper and she knew it. She couldn't help but remember the time he had lost his temper when she was with him. He had lashed out and given her a black eye. Tom wasn't pleased but she hadn't told him that Nathan had done that to her. Had Nathan lost his temper with Skye? Had he caused her such horrific injuries? Had he wrapped his hands around her neck and cut off her air supply? No. He wouldn't.

"Excuse me, Miss, are you a relative of Skye's?" a nurse asked as she came into the room, cutting off Kelsey's thoughts. She looked over at Skye's pale body and shook her head. "Well, I'm going to have to ask you to leave please. It's relatives only," she told her and Kelsey nodded understandingly and stood up. She left the room and walked down the corridor to where she and Tom had previously been sat. She took her phone out of her pocket to find zero text messages from Tom.

"Excuse me?" someone spoke with an American accent. Kelsey looked up from her phone to see a young guy smiling at her. He had his hood up but she could see his blonde hair poking out the front of it. "Yes?" she replied. "Can you tell me where Skye's room is?" he asked. Kelsey pointed towards the room she had just left and the guy smiled gratefully before walking away from her. He went straight into the room and shut the door behind him.

Kelsey pondered on the guy's appearance for a moment before it occurred to her that he hadn't actually given a reason as to why he wanted to know where Skye was. She immediately stood up and rushed towards the door. She pushed down on the handle and to her relief it wasn't locked.

When the door was open she saw the blonde haired American stood over Skye. "Get away from her!" she shouted and ran towards him. She pushed him away from Skye and opened her mouth to call for help but the guy quickly covered it. He dragged her over to the door and locked the three of them in the room. "I thought this would be easy. But I guess I'll have to kill both of you now," the guy said to her. Kelsey elbowed him in the stomach and launched herself towards the door. He grabbed her ankle and dragged her across the floor towards him.

"You're so done," he told her before pulling her up from the floor by her hair. She screeched in pain as he punched her in the stomach. Kelsey took more blows from his hands and feet until she felt so weak she could barely move. He stopped injuring her and moved back to Skye.

Kelsey struggled to prevent her eyes from closing as she watched the guy wrap his hands around Skye's neck. She weakly stuck her hand in her pocket and retrieved her phone. She tapped number one on speed dial and placed the phone near her face. "Hey, I'm on my way back now," Tom's voice spoke. "Help," Kelsey whispered weakly.

"Help? Are you okay, Kels?" Tom asked with panic in his voice. "Guy...trying to...kill...Skye," she told Tom, her voice a little louder and clearer than she'd expected. The guy quickly turned around and saw the phone. He grabbed hold of Kelsey and pulled her up from the floor.

"NO!" she screamed with tears running down her cheeks. Tom had hung up the phone and Kelsey felt utterly and wholly alone. She was going to die.

"Skye!" Kelsey cried as the guy continued to hurt her. Skye's lungs were on fire as she slowly came back to consciousness. She could barely move as her whole body ached. "No, please," she heard a distressed voice say. Skye's eyes instantly shot open and she looked around the room. Jace was hitting Kelsey.

"K-Kels," she stuttered, trying to figure out where she was while her body filled with adrenaline at the sense of danger. Jace let go of Kelsey and turned towards Skye. He grinned and walked over to her. "It's nice to see you again, Skye. I hope you're pleased that the last face you'll see is mine," he spoke and with that the door was broken down. Relief washed over Skye as Nathan tackled Jace to the floor. Nurses and police officers rushed into the room.

Two police officers escorted Jace out of the room. Nathan wiped his bloody fists on his jeans, satisfied with the beating he'd just given Jace. He looked over at Skye and his heart sank. For just a moment he had seen her beautiful eyes. He walked over to her and kissed her cheek. "I'll see you soon, beautiful," he whispered.
