History:
The Falabella is a pure breed of miniature horse which was popular in Europe in the 1900's. The Falabella, and all miniature horses, were man-made in a time where oddities like tiny horses or monkeys and exotic birds were coveted among the rich. They were developed in Argentina and exported to Europe in the late 1900's. They were created by Patrick Newtall, Juan Falabella, and his family after him.
Physical Appearance:
Falabellas are known for being very colorful, in many paint and Appaloosa colors as well as solid colors. They are miniscule in height, being an average of 30 inches tall. However, There have been several individuals who were less than 20 inches in height.
Other Info:
Falabellas are said to be very intelligent, more than most breeds, and are used as companion animals to single horses, or in lead line jumping classes. They can sometimes jump 3 feet or higher. Falabellas can also be driven in pairs or singularly. They are also unique in the way that they do tend to live longer than full-sized horses, up to 45 years.
