His words were already slits to her wrists.
He just couldn't see them because she pulled her sweater so tight.
He laughed and mocked, he thought it was a joke.

He didn't know that the things he was saying would cause new slits to appear on her wrists.
He didn't realize she was hiding her pain.
He didn't realize his jokes were causing her mental pain.
He didn't think, he should have stopped to realize how much his words were eating her alive.
