Dancing and Laughter mixed with the odd untrustworthy glare now filled the studio, The Illusion Dance centre dancers had arrived at the next step and the party was now in full flow. As Dance Captain, it would be Sophia who would go around to talk to some of the dancers but she couldn't -
Sophia (Dance Captain) POV -
It's hard to enjoy this party, can we even call it that? If Kate, Emily, Riley and James all agree that the teams will Merging half of these dancers won't even be going to Regionals this year.
The news that Emily and Kate had given her in the office was sitting heavily on Sophia's shoulders. "Miss Kate, Can we talk for a second about all this?" She asked, "We don't need a merger! Our team is enough to get to Regionals!" Sophia went on.
Kate finally turned to her, "Sophia. We lost two Freshers competitions. If we loose this final one then we are out of this entire dance season!" She explained, completely ignored what Sophia had just said. "So you won't call it off?" She asked, Sophia already knew the answer she would get to that and the firm shake in Kates head confirmed it.
Sophia (Dance Captain) POV -
I just hope they know what they are doing!
Miss Kate (Studio Owner) POV -
I do hear what Sophia is saying, but can we really just stand by and watch our chances at Regionals go down a drain?
"Look, if we thought that this was a bad idea - we wouldn't do this" Kate said, trying to see past the harsh and stubborn look Sophia had on her face, "Okay stop looking at me like that..... It's all going to be fine" and with that, Kate moved over to the other dancers and began to mingle in.
Shake it up (Milkshake Bar)
Megan (Trainnie Jazz Dancer) POV -
I've come down to the Milkshake bar just to see Ollie. I haven't seen him much so I just want to catch up with him. Plus he's my boyfriend so I have to see him because I want in on what's going on in A troupe.
"Where have you been?!? "She asked, Ollie came late into the Milkshake bar. " I've been at the party. "We do have a big competition coming up" He answered, "Regionals? That's a nothing competition" Megan answered him hastily, as if she didn't have a card in the world about it.
Ollie (Contemporary Dancer) POV -
Regionals? A nothing competition? This conversation is over!
"Well luckily for you, you're not on A troupe and you're not going to Regionals" He said back to her, there was times when Megan did really annoy Ollie, this was a perfect example of that. He had a commitment and Megan didn't like it.
The Next Step - Studio A
"... Seriously, Multinationals was amazing! I was on another team but I saw The Next Step dance" Melody, a dancer from Illusion seemed to be getting on well with Carmine, it was as if they had known each other for months on end before then. "So, What happened here then?" Melody asked, glancing around the studio. She felt it as soon as she came in, something was up.
"I mean, the studio wins multinationals and then it can't even get into Regionals? Something must be up" She said, Carmine didn't know herself what the problem was. "Well there is one more Freshers so that's another chance to get into Regionals" She smiled, "What about you?
Melody (Illusion Dancer) POV -
Honestly, the dancers at Illusion haven't really known each other that long so it hasn't really taken an effect on us, but I like to see the positive in life and I just hope we get to Regionals
"I just look to the future, All that matters is getting to Regionals" Meldoy smiled. After a few moments, the two girls split off and began to mingle with other people, Miss Kate was watching them from the distance and with everyone that got on, she began to warm to the idea of Merging. Was it a good thing?
"How do you think it's going? Are they getting on?" Riley asked her sister who was standing over by the snack table. Emily seemed enthusiastic about the idea but of course deep down had doubts. "I think they get along? It looks that way we just never really know what they think inside"
"Look, I think it's worth a shot, Should we tell them now?" Riley asked, looking to James, Emily and Miss Kate for answers. But as if just by chance, the dancers all wanted answers themselves. "Excuse me guys, What is this all about?" Hunter called out, causing the light chatter to die down into silence.
James (Co-owner of Illusion) POV -
This is it, we have to explain ourselves to the dancers.
Miss Kate (Studio Owner) POV -
I hope they understand our reasons for this! This will be okay... Right?
"Alright dancers, we need to talk. We both lost both of the Freshers Dance Extravaganzas, which are the qualifying competitions in order to go to Regionals, there is one more left - which means one more chance to get to Regionals. But now circumstances have changed" She took a pause for a moment, but as soon as Kate stopped, someone else began talking.
"What do you mean circumstances have changed?" Ollie asked, curious to know what is going on. "In light of the new Regionals team numbers - 6 dancers from the next step will come together with 6 dancers from Illusion to create the Regionals team" She announced.
Reece (Contemporary Dancer) POV -
Merging? What?!? That can't be happening
Matty (Contemporary Dancer) POV -
What are my sisters thinking? Bad idea right there. Merging the teams will not get us to Regionals.
"Look guys, you have to understand, I -
"Well, things don't seem to be going well in here. Alright everyone?" Everyone turned to see the last person they thought they would see entering the studio. To some, a girl so familiar... Michelle.
Michelle (Contemporary Dancer) POV -
Oh yes, that's right. I'm back!
"What are you doing here?" Kate asked, rather pleased to see her but unsure of what she was supposed to do in her presence. "Well I was here to help and find out why you haven't yet qualified for Regionals but I see things much change now" Michelle said.
Michelle (Contemporary Dancer) POV -
I did come back to find out why they didn't make it into Regionals yet. But by the looks of things, they are struggling and I can help them get back on track!
Next time - Michelle has a talk with the studio owners, New A troupe auditions begin.
