The waves

The sun rose up behind the clouds
The waves danced kissing the shore
Time slipped like drops of rain
And I gazed at the sky, all ablaze

Fiery and soft the ambience turned soon
Silent feathery sounds lapsed
Between intervals at noon
The scenery opalescent
With shifting light
Became refulgent and bright

A sudden calmness which breaks
With the incoming  drumming of the waves
Send my mind beating in a race
'I wish this moment would last till eternity
For me to cherish the infinity
That i have within my numbered days'
My weak heart silently prayed

Autumn grew darker as the leaves fell
Couples waved hearing the bell
Knots were tied, promises broken
Oh! If life would be a bit fair
I'd sit there
Enjoying my ephemeral moment

Slowly the sun dipped below
The horizon was a shard of light
Yet I sat on the glistening sand
Hearing the silence of the tide

My thoughts rose and sank in solitude
With none to hear or intrude
As i lay under the starshine
Me gathered somewhere in West
My body somewhere sundown
With splendid death.

*this was written after reading
'The Waves' by Virginia Woolf(probably the hardest book to comprehend). In this poem the sun represents time and the word 'Yet' signifies that the person is already dead but her soul is still alive..
